Hello ladies,

Can anyone give me some advice here please?

I am 10.5 weeks with my second child, and found that I have lost 9kg since I discovered I was pregnant! I am absolutely NOT trying to lose weight, I just don't feel very hungry alot, plus I had a lot of nausea until about a week ago.

I lost about 5kg with my first child (within the 1st trimester) but put it plus a little more on by the end of the pregnancy.

However I had an issue at 34 weeks where the diastolic bloodflow was too fast and my baby had stopped growing. I am REALLY worried this will happen again, as they never decided WHY it happened in the first place. I am worried that this weight loss will affect my baby.

I have my doctors appt on Monday (luckily I have been placed in a higher risk group at hospital this time) and will discuss is with him then, but can anyone tell me if this happened to them? I simply don't have much of an appetite and when I do eat I eat less than I normally would.

I should also point out that I am a heavier girl so I am not too skinny after this weight loss, but it seems a heck of a lot of weight to lose in about 6 weeks.

Thanks!

Sorry I haven't experience this and can't really offer any advice. I just wanted to send you some :hugs:. At least you are taking it seriously. Is there anything that you have really felt like eating? I know it is hard when everything makes you sick. when you speak to your Dr perhaps they can recommend a special diet for you. I hope this stops soon and you start to feel better.

I lost heaps of weight my first pregnancy too. My Ob just said i must just have been carrying a bit extra (gee, thanks!). I'm sure your appetite will come back when the nausea stops. Mine did, but I never managed to eat as much as I did pre-preg. If you'rereally worried, get some of those high energy drinks (can't think of the name - like sustagen) they give to old people. My GF has cystic fibrosis and drinks them all the time as her metabolism is so high.

My cousin just had a baby 2 months ago. She lost 22kg all up, and bub was a healthy 7lb born at 37 weeks.

I woulddn't worry unless it continues for much longer.

HTH!

Pregnancy is harder on some people than others ... I have always lost weight at least in my first trimester - often I will have lost weight rather than gained weight throughout my entire pregnancy. My last pregnancy was the only exception - I gained 5kg.

Perhaps rather than trying to eat more, try to make up a calorie deficit by eating more calorie dense foods. So if you are cooking say a chicken breast-be a bit more liberal with the olive oil. If you are having a sandwich-add a generous amount of avocado. Concentrate on adding some more good fats too your diet-nuts,olive oil, avocado, salmon...

Or you could add calories by switching to full fat dairy products-perhaps fitting in a bit more calcium there too;)

You could also get some extra calories by drinking a larger glass of fresh fruit juice which is usually relatively higher in calories because of the sugar content-and you can get some extra vitamins in the process:yes:

There are heaps of healthy ways to add calories to your diet (thus slowing weight loss) without adding too much bulk which could make you feel too full or junk food which will make you feel:barf:

This is my first pregnancy & im just over 13wks..i lost 10kg in 3wks & the dr had no explanation for it as i hadnt had bad morning sickness but he said that its nothing to worry about so dont stress!

The best thing is to eat smaller meals but eat more often (it helps if you dont feel like eating & you dont throw it back up) good luck :D

I too am in my 2nd pregnancy. I lost 8 kgs in the 1st trimester. My dr said that it was nothing to worry about as my appetite had shrunk and i was feeling nausous. I have since started to gain some weight and everything has worked out ok. I also lost weight at the beginning of my first pregnancy as well do to the morning sickness.
