to an afternoon "black tie" wedding? i'm lost.. help!! what does "black tie" actually consist of??

It means formal wear. Black suit and bow tie for him, and a lovely outfit for u. Go to a formal wear store and they will help u out and give u some advice:)

Think cocktail dresses and tuxes for the men...
although it really shouldnt be a afternoon wedding if its 'blacktie'

Black tie for an afternoon event is very unorthodox. Black tie is evening wear and indication that the male should be in full tux. Ladies can wear a gown or formal cocktail attire - so as the other girls suggested, try a formal wear store for more advice.

You can also try Ebay and second hand stores. I have picked up some wonderful designer labels from recycled boutiques for a fraction of the cost.

Technically Black Tie is after 5pm, and cocktail is before,..... so really, I thinkk they just mean formal..:yes:
