When was your premmie ready for solids?

Hey guys, just wondering when other premmies are ready for solids and when did they finally loose that tongue reflex?

DD is just over 7mths now, 6mths corrected, and she doesn't seam too ready for solids, i've been trying her every now and then to see what she does, she's started to open her mouth when the spoon goes near it, but she still has that tongue reflex thing going on

so when did you baby start solids and when did they loose the tongue reflex? what was there real and corrected ages?

DS2 now 8mths actual 6 corrected
and we started solids a month ago
for the 1st 2 weeks he did well
then the next 2 wasn't interested
now the past week or so he has gone well:)

i dont think was hes really interested at 1st
so i stopped for 2 wks.

but every bub is different DS1 was prem also and he started solids at 4mths because he was ready and he was littler than DS2

i just try every few days and she will eventually click DS2 did overnight

Well Edward was 10 weeks prem and I started him on baby rice at 6months which was only 3 months corrected but he had terrible reflux and I was desperate. He didnt really get interested until about 7months corrected.

I was wondering this too!

The twins are 5 months and 1 week

corrected 3 months and 2.5 weeks

I was thinking of waiting till 6 months which would make them abit over 4 months corrected. They have always been ahead in their feeding. They even completely skipped the 180mls, and went straight to 240!

I have no idea what to do?

I think you should go with your own instincts!!

DD was 4weeks early and I started her on solids when she was 6months, 5 months corrected, She was always watching us eat and doing the motions. I tried with an empty spoon, put it towards her to see if she would open her mouth, and she did so I tried her with farex and we have not looked back since!!!!!

She loves her food!!! A real piggy pig! but only just hit 9.5kg at 10months old.


Goodluck with what ever you decide to do, but as I said I think you as the mum will know when the right time is.

With DD we started her at 6mths (4mths corrected) but DS3 didn't start until 8mths (6mths corrected)

If you are unsure give it a try. You'll be able to see by their reaction whether or not they are ready.
