Our first DS was born at 39w6d, so we expected bub number 2 to be earlier (as i had had 5weeks of pre labour by then!) so when Due Date came and went, i grew more and more disappointed, DHs holidays were slowly running out...
40weeks 3d - Had an Ob appointment, he did an internal and i was 2cm and cervix was soft and effaced to 1cm - he did a stretch and sweep and induction had been set for sunday 4th may, i was disappointed as induction was one of my worst fears, but considering by then DHs holidays would have been almost over i had to agree...
41weeks exactly -
10.30pm DH and i desided to try some umm natural induction methods :valentine: ;)
11pm - first contraction started (now who said natural induction doesnt work hehehe) i had a few more, they felt quite intence and close, so i thought i should get DH to time for a while... he timed a few - 5mins apart, lasting a almost a minute. then he fell asleep :rolleyes:
1am ish - i jumped in the shower cos they were so painful, got out at about 1.30am when the water went cold - contractions were closer together and so so painful, i couldnt even bend down between contractions to put some pants on, so i went into our room and attempted to wake DH, who opened his eye and went "huh?" and went back to sleep...
i tried again - he asked why, i burst into tears and said i need help to get my pants on... he started closing his eyes again and i yelled 'im going to the hospital soon, ring tyrah and get her here' - iv never seen DH wake up so fast and run to the phone!!
2.30am - Tyrah (my sister who was a support person) arrived - contractions were 2 mins apart - lasting a minute by then, but i was still comfortable at home...
3am - DH rang the hospital, who told us to come in... we got the last of our stuff together and got brayden in the car, we dropped him at my mums (3.30am ish) and made our way to the hospital...
4am - arrived at the hospital, contractions one on top of the other, and so so painful. the midwife wanted to do an internal, but there was no way i could get onto the bed with these pains, so i asked for the gas... once i had the gas, she did the internal, to find that i was only 4cm - i was completely devestated, the pain i was feeling was as bad as the worst contractions i had with DS1... so i kept the gas!
4.30am - the gas wasnt working, i asked DH & Sis to turn on the shower, but by the time they found a good water temp i had worked out a way to work thru my contractions without the gas, so didnt want to move..
5.30am ish - back to the gas, my system just wasnt enough now!
6.30am ish - into the shower with the gas... bliss!!
7am - told my sister i needed to poo - she told DH to go tell the midwife. midwife slowly made her way to the room... before she made it my waters broke, we heard a huge POP (and i felt it!) and waters just flew everywhere! my sis said omg your waters just broke - me- yep i know... i looked down and all i could see was meconium... i freaked out... the midwife had heard us say my waters had broken, and ran in... about the time she ran in i put my finger down there, and could feel bubs head about 2cm from the edge, and said 'its head is right there' the midwife said 'ok' next thing i did a little push (it hurt too much to push properly!) and put my hand down again, and was shocked to find a whole head was out... thats when the panic started... the midwife told me i HAD to push, i couldnt... she was telling me i had to again just as the next contraction hit... i pushed..
7.07am - DH announces "its a boy babe" :D
the cord was around his neck tightly, twice, he was completely blue - i think they thought he was dead... i said "my baby my baby' and grabbed him... i was holding him and rubbing him trying to stimulate him when they realised it wasnt working they asked if they could cut the cord... of course we agree'd!!
his cord was cut and he was raced out of the room, another midwife got me up and took me to the bed...
they brought bub back when he was all ok, and we had lots of skin to skin and he had a nuzzle at my breast, DH, Bub and I had nice cuddles together, and desided on a name, Harlan Daniel, then realised the time and rang my mum before she dropped DS off at daycare and asked her to bring him up.
the placenta came out when i had a coughing fit (iv had a cough for weeks now!) about 35mins after the birth.
Brayden and my mum arrived about 45 mins after Harlans Birth, and brayden got to meet his little brother, who he fell in love with instantly!
Harlan was very bruised at/after birth due to the cord being around his neck so tightly it has mostly faded now
Although nothing really went to plan, it was still an amazing experiance - my little man is beautiful - we are all on :cloud9:
