Did you wear a wedding dress?

If you eloped on an island or somewhere else where it was just you and dp.. ??Did you wear one... Wouldnt you need to just take it off straight away after the ceremony??

My SIL eloped.

They got married in Vegas with an Elvis impersonator singing to them...

She wore a normal dress - it was black and white. It was pretty and did really suit her.

It was just her, her DP, their 2 girls and their 2 American friends that they were staying with.

Oh - and it was a drive through wedding - they didn't get out of the car. I kid you not.

See If our super quick wedding coming up falls through... Which is looking likely dp doesnt want to still have our normal wedding so may be back to Eloping In Vegas..

I want to wear a wedding dress if we do this!

I dont want to get married if I cant wear a beautiful dress...

my friend had a really nice dress for her wedding- it was cheap yet absolutly stunning and fitted the small ceromony they had. It was just a simple red silk gothic style dress. I loved the whole theme they had, they did it their way. And it didnt cost them so much.

We eloped to Hamilton Island. Had the full white dress, had DH sister and her hubby as our witnesses. Got married in a little white timber church on the hill.

Best day of my life. Wouldn't change anything about it.

MIL doesn't like me though. She didn't get to buy a new dress (so she said). :(

I sound mean don't I, but if you knew my MIL, you would elope too.

congrats on the upcoming wedding:yelclap:
we eloped on an island in thailand feb 2008 and it was FANTASTIC! :valentine:it was everything i dreamed of! (but my MIL is angry now too! not very fond of me these days to say the least!)
i wore the big beautiful dress too! my dh just had khaki pants and a linen shirt...there was also a big hoop that was suposed to be under my dress to make it even bigger but i wouldn't have fit on the boat! i wore my dress for about six hours (going to the island, ceremony, cake and champers, photos and back to the resort!)
here's some pics and video mix i made: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIR9on7emJk&feature=user
we had the island package: http://www.wedding-phuket.com/packages-island.htm

awww! thanks sweetie!:hugs:
it was the best decision we ever made eloping! the day was totally about us and not about what anyone else wanted or worrying if they were ok. just me, my hubby, photographer and celebrant on an island.
some family members weren't impressed with the idea but most understand our reasons.
there is no reason you can't have beautiful gown! make it all about you and your dp and what you want!:smiliedance:

We eloped in New Zealand and I wore my jeans and hiking boots, and a T-shirt. We dashed down to a beach where he gave me the ring, and then we strolled upto the registry office to make it legal later in the morning.

My mum is a bit ****ed off, she really wanted to see me get married and still hasn't stopped mentioning the issue 1.5 years later. But now that my sister is planning a traditional marriage I'm glad we eloped and saved ourselves so much money and fuss.

My DH & I didn't technically elope as everyone knew we were getting married, they just weren't invited! :raspberry:

We were married in Fiji & only had one other couple there with us - they were our witnesses & one of them took all of the photos. I wore a wedding dress for the ceremony & pics but I changed into a cocktail dress for dinner. I absolutely love my wedding dress & would never have got married without one. By the way, the dress you want is stunning! My DH wore a suit & tie for the ceremony but he took off the jacket & tie for the pics & he changed into shorts & shirt for dinner. We even had a cake even though there was only 4 of us but that was really just for the pics - I didn't eat any of it & most of it went to the staff at the resort.

This was my DH's second marriage & he did the whole church & everything for his first marriage & he much prefers the way we did it. He has 2 sons & he's already said that when the time comes for them to get married, he will definitely try to guide them in the direction of our type of wedding.

Just because you are eloping doesn't mean that you can't have the things that will make the day a bit more special than a normal day ie wedding dress, bouquet, hair & make up done etc. I say go with what you want, afterall you're hopefully only ever going to do this once & it's your special day! :flowerz:

We eloped to New Zealand. I brought a speacial dress, it was a goth/hippy style dress in purrple, and DH brought a suit and wore a matching tie(colour of my dress) We were married in a beautiful B&B. We had it vidoe taped so we could show everyone when we got home. Then we were able to spend the rest of our hoilday as newly weds..

DH and I eloped in Las Vegas 7 yrs ago. We did tell our parents prior to getting married and had a big party for family and friends to celebrate when we came back to Australia for a visit (we were living in the UK at the time).

In Las Vegas, we stayed at the Excalibur hotel, and got married in the Little White Wedding Chapel. We got a package that included limo transfers to our hotel, our wedding outfits (DH in a suit, me in a traditional white wedding dress), webcast for a month, a video, photos & negatives, the ceremony, and a 5 course dinner at the Stratosphere hotel (revolving restaurant).

So yes I did wear a wedding dress and after the ceremony and the photos, I got changed into an outfit (evening dress) for our dinner.

We had a blast and thoroughly recommend it!! No stress, not too expensive and lots of fun.
Plus we still got to have a party and celebrate with family and friends (as it wasn't a wedding reception, it was much cheaper and no pressure!!).

Good luck with your wedding plans.
