Just wanted to know when everyone stopped giving their babies bottles?
My first stopped at 9 months, she had a straw cup. My 2nd is still having bottles and she is 10 months.
It would be interesting to get an idea!!

I tried to wean my DS off his bottles when he was 18 months old and after 2 weeks decided (with a great support from BubHub ladies) to let him self-wean when he is ready.

He drinks all of his water out of cups (sippy and grown-up cups) and some of his milk although he has 4 major bottles per day still (about 1 litre of milk).

In the end we decided there are so many big things in life, if his bottle is a comfort to him, we'll let him keep it until he decides that begin a 'big boy' means he doesn't want it anymore.:D

12 months with DS #1. I was guided by him and found as soilds were now the main source of nurishment he no longer needed the bottle to 'top up' and used a sipper cup during and between meal times.

With DS #2 I think might be harder - he is still BF and hates bottles and I wonder when he will readily take a sipper cup

DD1 stopped at about 12 months...everything was drunk out of a sipper cup then.

I did the same thing with Aden, and hopefully it will be the same with Travis

Both of my boys still have a bottle after dinner, before they brush their teeth and go to bed.
Lucas is 21mths and Jesse is 4 years old!
I've got better things to do than worry about what sort of container their milk is in, they could drink it out of a gravy jug for all I'd care...as long as they drink their milk!
I don't understand the thinking behind 'you've reached a certain age, now the container you've always known milk to be in will be thrown away and replaced with this' attitude...does it really matter?
Imagine if one day there were no more coffee/tea cups allowed...only glasses with straws for tea and coffee...it would seem ridiculous to us!
They're grown ups for so long...:(
:smiliedance: Bottles for everyone!!!!:smiliedance:

My son had a morning/night bottle from 12 months and then just a morning bottle of toddler formula until he was 2. On his second brithday he was so excited that he didn't ask for a bottle and didn't ask for one again since.
Do whatever fits for your family. If bub screams for it....why not continue? If bub doesn't notice and is getting plenty of fluid from cups then hooray, no more washing bottles

I have been made to believe it is wrong to give your bub a bottle after 12mths & to be honest I have kept it to myself that my DD is totally in love with her bottle still :o
I am so happy to read this post & see that alot of children are still having some milk in a bottle, DD has 1 at night about 1/2hr before bed & sometimes 100ml in the morning.
:yelclap: i feel better now.
Funny how we are made to feel so guilty about some things!!

Whoever came up with that 'rule' obviously had waaaay too much time on their hands to ponder about things that don't matter!!;)

i only stopped with DD1 because she was drinking from a straw cup for water, so i tried at B'fast with the straw cup and she liked it, so i kept it going. She was never really a comfort baby with her bottles.
Whereas DD2 loves bottles and i will keep it going until she does not want them anymore.

I have put the milk in a cup and straw cups but she tossed that across the room
I just think it is the sucking for DD she was not breathing when she was born and had to be assisted to. After such a Traumatic entrance the pediatrician could see she was a sucker and put a dummy straight in her mouth and she was comforted straight away.

My boy was two and still having the night bottle..........

Then the binman took them away, no dramas. Why cause more problems for them? It is only a bottle and they are only little.

my DS will be 3 in June and still has his bottle. He drinks water and OJ (watered down) from cups but will only drink milk from his bottle. I've tried sippy cups, straws, normal cups but he won't drink it. For him it's his comfort along with his blankie and who am I to interfere at this stage. Hell I sucked my thumb until I was 8 (not in public just at home) and I turned out a normal adjusted person and I don't have bucked teeth too boot!!! Yeah for kiddie comforts :smiliedance:

I'm certainly not going to stress about it either because as long as he gets his intake of milk everyday I don't care - at the moment he drinks between 600-750ml a day.

My SIL stopped breastfeeding her 3 kids when they were in age ranging from 15-18mths and none of them wanted cows milk afterwards. As for me I'd rather my DS drank from a bottle and got his milk everyday even if I cop stares from people when out in public than for him not to have any at all.
