Ok, before I change my 1 week old's outfit AGAIN, are there any little tricks to putting a nappy on a newborn boy so he's not soaking himself everytime he does a pee!!!??? :hair:

- I am pointing his willy down
- I am wrapping the side tabs all the way around his back and sticking the front tabs on tight - criss crossing eachother
- I am ensuring the elastic is in the right place around his bum/legs
- I sometimes tuck the excess nappy (near the elastic on legs) but not sure that does anything.

He is only a little fella so I'm guessing the nappy is just too big but surely there is something i can do? I'm running out of clean clothes!

you could try going up to infant nappies as Catlin had the same problem (but she isn't a boy)

so i went up to the infant nappies and she is fine now with wetting threw everything

even tho they are a little big it's much beta than changing there clothes on them every hour or so

Imo it works beta than changing them

Sposies are unreliable

switch the cloth and you wont have that problem :)

You could try angling the tabs down and in and if this doesn't work and bubs is over 4kgs go up a size (newborn nappies don't last to 5kgs even though it says they do on the pack)

 that isn't 100% for certain .. my DS STILL has poosplosions .. and the washing is wearing thin ...

he leaks through cloth and sposies .. sigh .. mind you .. I still prefer cloth :D

I think with a newborn you hvae to expect some poosplosions .. serioisly .. when I give my DS nappy free time some of the movements he has are just plain runny .. and fast .. nothing can contain that

its not fun .. sometimes I think its just part of being mum ..

I had the same thing with DS He was an inbetween in nappies. There is nothing i could really do untill he fitted into the larger size better! Also i tryed out all types of nappies and when he fitted into the next size HUGGIES where the best for my DS's explosive poos and big wees! Was the only nappy to hold it all in and keep him dry. Yes more $$ but I used less of them compared to other nappies, So it works out even.

My ds did the same thing. This stopped as soon as he was the right weight for the boy nappies. I dont know how he aimed his pointer to get it up his back- talent!
I just changed him all the time. It was not until recently a friend of mine said that she used to add a panty liner or those nappy liners used for cloth nappies to her new borns disposable. I dont know if it works etc but it might be an options if it is worrying you.

Jopella2, I am having the exact same problem with my 13 week old DS. Sometimes I have to change him and his bedding TWICE during the night!! It is incredibly frustrating.

If you're using Huggies, a friend showed me that there are in fact TWO elastic leg bands in the newborn nappies and to make sure that you stick your fingers all the way in and pull the the innermost one out so that it sits properly on bub's leg. This seems to have helped the situation for me.

Hun if your bubba is small the middies showed me a trick in the hospy as this does happen, when putting on the sposie you FOLD down the top of the nappy but still keep it pulled up at the same height so it tightens i around the leg holes if you get what mean?? This should help some.
Goodluck!!:D

Sarah was in cloth up until 8 months old. At first we used flanellete square cloth nappies with a plastic snib that u by from a chemist. The same stuff the hospital uses. Sarah would leak heaps of times with those. Once she reached about 3 months I bought tons of fluffy terry towel nappies and used these covers called baby behinds that were made out of nylon I think with velcro. These were fantastic and shed never leak with these! I didnt mind the washing as I had heaps of clothes horses and an economical front loader. We are on Aldi disposable nappies now and these never leak. I used to get told that Sarah would be too small for terry nappies but I wished I hadve used them earlier.

Thanks for the tips ladies.

I don't think I want to go down the cloth nappy road but I am experimenting with the other suggestions! Will let you know what works.
