Hi

My Nick is 6mths old and I don't know if he is getting enough liquid in his diet. I am feeding him solids - 2 fruit meals and one vegie/meat meal a day and am breastfeeding about 4 times a day - although some of these feed are short ones - and that's his choice not mine.

He wont drink from a bottle anymore so he has a sippy cup with boiled water which I offer him with each meal but I don't know how much he actually swallows of this.

He wees through about 5 nappies a day - would this mean he is getting enough liquid?

5 wet nappies would mean they are getting enough fluids. I have troubles with my 7 mth old not drinking water but he has 4 to 5 bottles a day so still getting enough fluids. What type of cup do you use? I can't seem to get Nathan to use any.

Hi Rell

I just started off with the cheapies from Woolies - they were a couple of bucks each - some of them are so expensive and I wasn't sure if Nick would take them so didn't want to waste the money. These work fine but you have to hold them otherwise your bub will get drenched.

Once that worked I bought a Mam brand cup and another one called Munchkin Healthflow from coles. These have valves in them but I had to take the valves out cause the flow was too slow!

All of them with spouts and the 3 small holes

It's a bit messy but good luck!

Try The Heinz Range Of Cups.they Have Soft Rubber Spouts And Rubber Around The Cup To Help Little Ones Grip And They Have The Valves As Well.my Nearly 7 And Nearly 5 Yr Old Sons Still Use Theirs But With Out The Valve.and My Twins Who Are 2 This Sunday Just Love Their Cups.they Are Around $15.00 But They Do Last.

Thanks for the advice. Jacinta had no problems drinking from a sipper cup she just drunk from the first cup we bought. Hopefully I will find one he likes.
