how long does meat keep?

so we were meant to have a bbq sat night..i defrosted the meat i had bought and marinated it..

we didnt end up bbqing, and the meat is still in the fresh cold compartment in my fridge.

theres sausages, steaks and bacon.

(none are past their useby dates, but have been frozen for a few days, then defrosted on saturday)

do you think it would still be ok to cook up?

If they dont have a greenish tinge, or slimy or smell off, then if you cook them up tonight they should be ok....

so they have been out 3 days? No I wouldnt eat them, but Im paranoid. 24-48 hours is my limit depending on the meat. How was it defrosted?

They should be fine. Particularly as you marinated them too. I'd eat them tonight though, or tomorrow at the latest.

i partially defrosted them in the microwave, then put them in the fridge to continue to defrost in there.

they dont have funny smells or strange colours though.

Then no I would definately not eat it. The microwave is the worst 4 defrosting cos it starts 2 cook the meat. Essentially u have heated then cooled the food but its still raw so I would not eat it. Its totally ur call tho. I hate 2 waste food so I get where ur coming from.

Ive thrown it all out...dont wanna chance ds or i getting sick (omg can u imagine having gastro and trying to look after a gastro bub! dont wanna even think about it!!)

Went down and got a hot chook and some pasta salads, suits me fine as i get a night off from cooking! WOOT! :yelclap:
