Hi
I`m Helen and about to start 3 months with DH working away. We hope to catch up most weekends but will have to see how it goes.He has been away a fair bit the last two weeks getting things set up in his new job role.
I am in The Hunter and he will be in the Blue Mountains.:( We visited last week though and it is really lovely there:yes:
I have Amelia who is 19mths and Rosie who is 14. Also have Fran but she is 16 and went to live in the UK in Jan for 2 years. We seem to have gone from a family of 5 here all the time to now just 3 of us and it seems so quiet.
I find the worst time is about 4 til 7pm. I am a bit over it after a long day and waiting for Amelia to go to bed.
Just wanted to say hi and hope to be able to chat and moan:laughing:in here!!

 Welcome, it would be difficult going from a full house to a quieter one.
Will your DH only be working away for 3 months or is it a more permanent thing?
We call 4-7 the crazy hours, Asher goes crazy!
I usually try to prep dinner, lay out pj's and all the evening type things when Asher has his mid-day nap.
That way come 4-7 when things would normally get crazy we just go down to the park or if the weather not good we'll put some music on and have a dance party :smiliedance:

we do that too. i find that when hubby is away i am actually more organised and the house is waaay cleaner
i put the kids in a bubble bath or put on some music for us to dance to if they are being painful ;) the bindi dvd and wiggles is good even though my 8 yr old rolls his eyes:rolleyes: he secretly enjoys it :smiliedance:and there is nothing like tickle time to wear them out for bed.
you definately have your moments but i am finding it kinda good to have routine and quaility time with the kids, they are both fed and bathed and happily sleeping right now after a full bowl each of rice and veges and its only 7pm plus my house is clean!!!:cloud9: that would be unheard of if hubby was home.:devil6:
i reackon it is hard, missing him etc. but i'm starting to see there are definately some benefits to it all.
luckily for me though he is coming home in 3 days. it must be weird for you having DH gone for such a long time. do you have any family or support nearby?:hugs:
Hiya and welcome. Between 4 and 7.30 I'm definitly struggling towards the finish line. Just waiting for the girls to go to bed so I can have a few moments peace to myself.
I hope the three days goes fast for you.

Thanks for all your welcomes. It seems I am not the only one who has 4-7 problems:laughing: Some great ideas though! I think I will find it harder as it is no longer daylight saving so dark by around 5.30 atm.:(
Kara we don`t know what will happen after 3 months but unless they find someone to do the job down there, i can see it lingering on as there is lots of work. He is a service engineer for machines in the mines. Sounds like fun in your house!
itssunday I really agree with the tidy part and that life is a little easier. Our house is on the market too so it is heaps easier to tidy when people are coming to see it. I am from UK, we have been here nearly 4 years so no family nearby. makes it harder i think. Is your partner home for good in 3 days?
Myliam:laughing: yes I am hanging for a large wine by then!! I try not to saty up too late just to get me time as I enjoy it at the time but am tired the next day.
I find Tues and Wed hardest so far.
Thanks again x

If it does go longer do you think you'll move?
Life here is pretty crazy
But in a good way :D
How you adjusting to your DH being away?
And your daughter for that matter?
It must be so hard having her on the other side of the world.

no just for a couple of days and then he is off again.
my son has been throwing more tantrums lately though now which is quite draining, i think he is finding it hard to adjust and is worried about us having to move once again. he always throws heaps of tantrums when ever there is a change.:hissy::hair:.
but besides that i am really happy with the whole time on time off thing, it's cool to have hubby home for a few days and be able to just hang out all day instead of him being home only in the morning when we are racing around or at night when the kids are snitchy (which is how is was before when he was doing 6 days a week and working sometimes till 2 am etc in a crappy hospitality job.)
how are you enjoying australia?
my hubby is from usa and i am from nz.( no sheep jokes please;))
so we have no family support either, my parents now live here but they are a number of hours away and will be even further when we move.

Hey well I am adjusting but just had 3 great nights down in the mts. I think it will start to get harder as it goes on and the winter comes along. Not sure at the end of 3 mths what will happen. It may be up to us.
I am ok with Fran in the UK. That sounds a little harsh but boy did she test me. We talk alot and she seems really happy which is good. She never really settled here:( She was 13 when we came and resented it and me I think.

I don`t know any sheep jokes...must be the Aussies who tell them:laughing:. Wow where did you meet?
I love Australia very much. it is nothing like UK but I wouldn`t go back. Bit of a culture shock at first but lifestyle is better. The Blue Mts is quite English looking:D

Good to hear things are going well.
I guess Fran is just at that age, She doesn't "need" her mum (well thats what she thinks anyways )
It great tho that we have the internet and phones and stuff so you can keep in touch.

It is too!!
I have used some advise from you lovelies. We have been to the park a few times at 4ish and also trying "tickle time" I don`t know who laughed more, me or Milly:laughing:
Getting dark here around 5.30 now.
Feeling the no time out more now. Lost my mobile today whilst trying to get Rosie and her 2 mates to footy and Milly in the car.:hair: Too much going on at once.
