ok im due in december so a while away but i was thinking of putting a list 2gether and start buying up slowly
so what are the best for newborn?
how many would u need ruffly?
and wat would u list for your list lol
need ideas hehe
When Gabs was born I found I tended to use mostly flats for the first while... especially with the meconium... I didn't want that on my MCN's
Or prefolds layed in a cover.
Flannelette flats are lovely, not too bulky, and if you have a good fitting cover you don't need to use pins.
I also found that my BumGenius' and Hautes fit really well after about 4 weeks.
Small Krap Katcher for night from the word go.... can't go past that for a night nappy.... and because they are just bubbas, you don't need to stuff them too heavily... just a bamboo doubler and a microfibre booster worked well for us.
um.... yeah.
This time around I'm going to get some hemp terry and just make up my own flats.... coz hemp terry is thinner than cotton terry, but more absorbant... I don't know.. I'm still thinking about it.
I'd probably go for prefolds and a cover, however, as a sewer I'd more likely make fitteds and a few covers. We intended to use terry flats with DS but the realities of origami folding a nappy under a wriggly baby that insists on kicking you in the boobs (which were increadibly sore) and having zilch prior experience of nappies or babies we ended up using disposables. Next time I'll make a shed load of fitteds for when they are newborn, no folding

They are cute, cute cute in newborn size. I went to a nappy demo a few weeks ago and the BB rep says the newborn ones are super small though so think about if your baby is average (3.5kgs) you may be better of skipping newborn and going straight to small.
They are also super absorbent so one of my favs although I only have them for an older baby as we only started at 9 mo.

I just used terry flats through out. I had 2 dozen which lasted me nicely until DS was toilet trained.

green kids are good - if you like pocket nappies. they fit but they look huge.
i have flats that i use at home and i am making fleece pockets and some flanalette fitteds to use on my little one.
i got the fleece from spotlight and the flanalette i got by chopping up some old baby blankets that i found in an op shop. what a bargain the blankets were for $5 i got enough to make 6 fitteds and a couple of boosters for my pockets.

I have never used cloth on a NB - we switched to choth when DS was 7 months - but my friend has successfully used bumGenius pockets from birth (or within the first few weeks) AND had a tiny baby, and she says they NEVER leaked whereas disposables leaked every time she used them
