I am on Lite'N Easy at the moment and I'm determined not to give in over the Easter period. But at the same time I dont want to miss out on the 'tradition' of eating chocolate!!!! Lite'N Easy is based on eating low amounts of calories and smaller portion sizes.

When I was in a health food store today I noticed that they have carob easter eggs.

Does anyone know much about carob and/or the differences between carob and ordinary chocolate. Is carob high in calories? Or just a healthier alternative to chocolate?

I think the best solution to your easter carob vs chocolate dilemma is this:

buy some great quality chocolate, but a small part ... and enjoy it!

When it comes down to it, I don't think there is a great deal of difference between carob and normal chocolate from a health perspective.

So, I vote for enjoying the good stuff!

If you're going to have chocolate, go for really good quality DARK chocolate. Its actually good for you! (In moderation of course ;))

Carob is a healthier alternative in that it doesn't contain caffeine and you can buy it with no added sugar (not real tasty!)... but if it is fat you are concerned about, than I'd go for chocolate!
Sometimes I find that carob can actually contain more fat than regular chocolate.

But I agree wiht MammaMia - buy a small amount of really nice, good quality chocolate and enjoy it!;)
