Hello Ladies,
Has anyone got any figures on the success rates of both embryos taking?
and/or
The percentage rate of singleton births from a 2 embryo transfer?
I've tried to google this but I can't seem to find any information.
Thanks,
Incy x

My FS said it works out about the same rate as a single transfer??? Also my clinic only does 2 embies if you are over 35 or 38 I think as they say there are increased risks with twins...... that is just what I have been told, but I'm not totally sure as we have no choice! Good luck with your BT!

Not sure of the actual stats but we had 2 transfered and we have 1 bubba.
Our FS also told us what the PP's FS told them.

Hi Incy Wincy.
I was told by my FS that if a pregnancy occurs and 2 embryos have been implanted, there's about a 20% chance of twins.
While I always only wanted to implant 1 (due to the higher incidence of health problems in twins) the longer this IVF roller coaster goes on, the more I'm wavering.....

DH & I did or transfer in Feb 08 and we transferred 2 embies on day 2. I am 31 and my fs said the chances of 1 sticking was about 50-60% and the second only another 15-20%. I am now 11 weeks pregnant with twins, we where lucky enough to get both to stick.
I wish you all the very best

Hello
We transferred two embies on day two and now have 3.5 year old twins (on our first cycle)!!! Clinic did not really mind how many we transferred as long as we were aware of the risks associated with a twin pregnancy.
best of luck!!!:flowerz:

This is a really good question Incy Wincy
Peppa which clinic did you go through?
I am in two minds as to, what to do with transfer....... Our FS said it was up to us how many we wanted and sometimes I think that if we say two we will have a fight on our hands with the FN's. I just think after 8 yrs of ttc I have had enough and whilst this is our 1st IVF cycle, we have tried everything else possible.

Hi Incy Wincy
My clinic would only allow 1 to be transferred at a time unless you have a long history of TTC or are over the age of 30.
They also told me that IVF embryo's have a higher chance of splitting than naturally conceived embryos. I had 1 transferred through FET in Nov and I am preg with twins - dont know if the egg split or conceived as well???? Good luck!!

Hi Mrs Pee
We are with westmead in Sydney. After 3 years of TTC I just wanted a baby, and did not really think both embryos would stick. I am sooo sooo glad they did - we got the BEST BONUS ever!!!

Thanks Peppa and CONGRATULATIONS too by the way on the twins :D:yelclap:
We are going through Westmead as well.
Can I ask you how hard it has been, having the twins?
I wanted two put back without a doubt until I really thought about the fact that I would be doing it alot of the time on my own. If it was to work the 1st time then I would have DH around all the time for the first few months but then he would be away alot. I have a wonderful support network around me including my mum and in-laws. I guess everyone handles things differently and I have already had a child so maybe that would make it a little easier?
Who knows......... I just want a baby!!

Yay!!! another Westmead girl!!!:yelclap:
I did not know any diffferent as they were my first children, but for us, the pregnancy was without complications, fit, well, healthy. Delivered them at 37 weeks by c-section as twin one was breach. 3250 and 3005gms.
Once they arrived, honstly some days all I did was sit on the lounge and feed them, but they were both very good babies. I had a very helpful DH and I was determined to "do it all". My mum would come around before work and want to peg the clothes out, but I would already have them done.
My tip is to Rest when you can and go to bed early.
They have both fed and slepted well and now they are best friends and very close.
For us having twins has been an amazing magical, funny, exhusting but truly worth every minute.:bee:

I think it is an age factor. My FS told me that they allow 2 embryos in ladies older then 35. Any younger then that you have a good chance of having twins..
And talking about that. CONGRATULATIONS Jogora and Macca on your expectant twins... My I have missed alot.
Also Hi Peppa!!!!
