home remedy for a cold.

Hi everyone,
My 2 year old has a severe cold and I have given him dimetap but it isn't enough to help the poor little man. does anyone have any good home remedies that are completly safe that I could try. He is quite sick with it and it may be more than a cold so I am trying to get him into the doctor.

If he has any kind of discolored dicharge from his nose then he has an infection & needs to see the doctor. When my girls get the flu or cold I also use vicks or eukey(sp) bear rub on their back/chest & feet then put socks on them and put them to bed , this helps to clear the nose, I will also put some vicks on a cloth and hang it from the ceiling when I put them to bed so they can smell it during the night and it can help them to breath. I think there was another forums on here from a while back that may have some ideas as well. Good luck!
