View Full Version : HELP! Did I speak to soon? (spotting)
Well today would be the day AF was due but I am 12DPO and have had a couple of positive HPTs :D So thought it was reasonably safe to assume I am up the duff and annouce it to fellow bubhubians!
Now I think I may have spoken to soon :( I have just noticed that I my CM has a brownish tinge and I am spotting a little.
I know spotting can happen during pregnancy but does it happen this early??? Could my tests be inaccurate???
Any comments or experiences you can give would be much appreciated.
Very stressed mum2b

I wish I could give you some advice but I don't have any! But I want to wish you all the luck in the world that your AF just packs it's bags and disappears for the next 9 months!
Dont freak out. I think everyone Iknow had spotting or brownish discharge. I had it too and convinced myself it was a miscarriage. Just try to relax and take it easy , if you get pain or just want to be sure ask your gp for a scan.;)

My last pregnancy was a surprise (lovely one) but i did spot quite a bit when I AF was due. I assumed it was my expected period but it didn't increase, just spotting for a day ot two and then nothing-which is how I came to know that I was pregnant!:)
heart rate starting to return to normal........
I had the same in my second pregnancy, so I didn't realise till the second month when nothing turned up at all... yup I'm a bit slow:o

HI, I haven't had spotting at this stage, I got it at about 20 weeks, but I can tell you that it is extremely RARE that a pregnancy test gives you a false positive. They are usually 99% accurate, but the other 1% is nearly always a neg result when there is a pregnancy. So the test isn't wrong, but go check it at the doc's if its bothering you, by the sounds of the othere ladies in this post it's pretty normal.Hopa all goes well.
Oh Aggero.....big hugs to you. :hugs:
Try and stay calm (I know it's hard). At least it is when AF is due and not at random. They say lots of people have spotting when AF would be due, so lets hope its safe :fingerscrossed:
If it increases past the 'spotting' stage, then get yourself off to a doc and booked in for a scan. Hopefully bubs will be big enough to see sitting safely inside.
Good luck. Will be thinking of you. :hugs:
Hi Aggero,
Congratulations!!!
I had the same thing - brownish spotting on the day that AF was due. My dr told me that it was just due to the fact my hcg levels weren't quite high enough to entirely suppress AF and it's apparently really common and usually nothing to worry about (I now have a 3 month old baby boy).
If you're really worried you can ask your gp to do a blood test to monitor your hcg levels - they should be doubling every few days at this stage. I did this and it was really reassuring.
Good Luck :D
Hi ladies,
Thanks for your responses. I went to the Dr on Fri and he was little concerned about the spotting so sent me for a BT. I also have to got for BT's on Monday and Wednesday to make sure my HCG levels are rising.
Spotting has stopped - lasted about 36hrs so I am feeling better and have been doing HPT's and the lines are getting progressivly darker so feeling ok about things. Will be great to get the results on Thursday morning though.
Thanks again :D
Hi aggero,
I had heaps of spotting with DS around the 7-8 week mark, which lasted a week or so. I ended up having a perfect pregnancy and birth and a very healthy bub.
The midwives at the hospital told me at the time that it's quite common and as long as it's brown or light pink it's ok. But if there's any fresh blood (ie. red), that I'd need to be checked over by the doc.
