i know this is a bit late in coming but i thought id finally share my story...

My DD was 9 days post date. My OB decided that it would be best if i was induced.

I arrived at the hospital expecting a very long day, and even a night in the hospital before i went into labour, as my OB had told me that i'd be having the gel... instead they broke my waters at bout 11.30 am on the 25th of March.

I was hooked up with an IV and some drugs to help bring on the contractions. I was being monitored the whole time, which was frustrating for me.

The contrations continued to get stronger, and around 7.30pm i went to have a bath... the warm water was so nice and relaxing. I found it helped alot with the contrations.

I stayed in the bath until probable just after 8pm... i started to feel the erge to push and at this stage i asked for some pain relief. I had the gas from just after 8pm until my Lily arrived.

The delivery itself was pretty quick. I had enough time to get back from the bath to the delivery room. At this stage that contrations were intense. I gave birth to Lily standing up, i couldnt make myself move into the bed.

Lily Isabelle was born at 9.04 pm.
Weighing a helathy 9 pounds.
and with a length of 53cm.

Lily was given oxygen just after she was born as she was very blue... she recovered extremely well.

I was hooked up to another IV to help clot my blood as i haemorrhaged after she was born and lost over a litre of blood. I also had a second degree tear, the doc lost count of the number of stitches i had... they were more painful and uncomfortable.

I was pretty out of it by the end of the night and glad to be able rest. I didnt get back to the ward until 3.30am on the 26th.
But it was all worth it!

We are both doing very well now and are on the road to recovery!!!

Congraulations Emi, well done. :yelclap:

I am booked in for an induction next week, I am 5 days overdue.
So you were able to move around during labour? I have not considered the induction fully yet as I am still hoping to go naturally before then, but I thought you were restricted from movement due to being hooked up to the meds. This is not the case?? Reading your story is encouraging, as I have heard that inductions can lead to a tide of interventions. But your's sounds like a great compromise!
Thanks for sharing.
