Jazz has been babbling for a couple of months saying ma ma and da da and ba ba but I was just wondering when this will progress to actual words. I know babies are all different but I was just curious.:)

By Connor's first birthday he could say about 6 or 7 words. He's now very fluent with his speech. He is a bit advanced in that area though. Mind you all his friends are starting to catch up now!! :yelclap: :D

DD#1 was talking in full sentences before she could walk.

DD#2 was a bit slower, I'd say about 15 months for words strung together.

Thomas has a vocabulary of about 10 clear words though I'm sure most of his babble is his attempt at speech also. He uses them where appropriate which is the true indicator of 'speech'. He understands a lot more though, and will respond to instructions- except for when he's being naughty of course!:D He'll be 15 months in a few days....

It seemed as if ds was saying 'muuuum' from day one ( think it was the way he cried!!!) He has been saying 'dad dad dad' from about 8 mnths and now at 9 & abit says 'nan nana nan', and he tries hard to copy the noises we make of the all the animals on his mobile!!!
I love the babbling stage, we have conversations all day about something, what exactly I don't really know sometimes!!

DS could say (I'm getting this out of my diary):

"ba bub" at 6 months; "mum mum" at 6 1/2 months; "da dad" at 8 months

by 15 months he could say above plus:

moon, more, din-din (for dinner which he uses for every meal), doe (for doey which is what we call his dummy), pup-pup, woo-woo (for woof), meow, nan-nan, bar (for bye), bore (for ball), brooom brooom (car noises), Bah (for Boobah), wow, bot-bot (for his bottle)

by 17 months more:

pane (for plane), bir (for bird), bear, pool, peg (he brought a peg to me and just started saying "peg"), oh no, no, don't, moo, car, ligh-ligh (for light), clean, shoes, sock, cheese, Bob (the Builder), tra (truck), duck, bick (for biscuit and weetbix)

and he hasn't stopped since - very good talker - gets it off his mum and nana

Chanel is 8 months old and all she really says is "Dada". Whenever we try to teach her anything else - she just laughs and says "Dada" again.

She makes other noises like the noise for "t" (not "tee" but "t") and "ba" . But that's it so far.
