View Full Version : Should I go to the doc?

Just testing the waters here guys, hope you'll give me an honest opinion.

My DD has had sloppy poo (sorry TMI) since Monday. Otherwise she was in perfect health.

Took her to the doctor on Tuesday who said it was nothing, probably teething. Dont do anything different, just maybe offer more fluid to prevent dehydration, and use good nappy cream.

OK no worries....... she started to get better, (poo became more solid, rash gone down)

Sent her to get minded when I went to work on Wednesday, carer VERY unhappy.

Her poo is still mushy, she has a bit of a runny nose.

My gut says there is nothing wrong, she is happy enough today, no earache, snot is clear, no puking, she's eating.

Would you take your child back to the doc (or to another one) when you know all they will say is it's nothing don't stress.

My carer has planted the seed of doubt in my mind, and the implication that I am a slightly **** mum.

I dunno.

no i wouldn't bother,it sounds to me like she just has a virus,as you said her poo is becoming more solid, she is eating, seems happy enough etc.

i think your carer is a little bit of a drama queen, you said that she was improving,it sounds like you are a caring mother to me.hope you child gets better soon!!

When it comes to babies I always follow the If in doubt, go to the dr rule. Probably nothing is wrong but babies can get sick so fast.

if it would make you feel better, and give you peace of mind.. then take bub to a dif doc.... wouldnt hurt for a 2nd opinion :)

personly I wouldn't take her back to the Drs. If she is happy, no fever, eating and drinking well then the Dr will tell you it's either a virus or teathing and there is nothing they can do for either. Obviously if she does get worse then get her checked out

I agree with Rell but as they say if in doubt !
The fact bubs is eating & drinking is a good sign try not to stress :hugs:

Thanks guys, makes me feel better.

I took her anyway, and the doc sent off some poo to get analysed, he said that way if she doesn't get better we can figure out what is wrong, and if she does then thats great.

Perfect solution in my mind.

(and yes sunnyflower I think my carer is a drama queen too lol)
