Hi there

My DS is just 2 and he has a lump (soft) under his foreskin (just one side)

Someone suggested to me that it was a small infection caused by him not being properly cleaned, obviously we dont pull back his foreskin yet or anything like that but he has daily baths or showers (with the odd day missed out here and there) but he is a typical grotty male toddler and is known to play with himself (as all males are!! :D ) so could have had dirty hands and handled himself iykwim?

Anyway i have been giving him two baths a day and it seems better

It doesnt seem to bother him

Has anyone had any experience with this problem?
Should it go away with "self help" or should i bring him to the docs?
What can i do to prevent it happening again?

Thanks for any advice

I have 2 uncircumcised boys ( ages 3 and 13) and I have never had this problem before. It could be a piece of dirt under the foreskin that has become infected. Does he have any discharge or is he red? If you can't get to the doctor straight away, You could try getting some cream from the chemist used for treating thrush and try that. If it is a small infection, this will help. If it isn't cleared in a couple of days, or if he is in pain when going to the toilet, I would definitely see a doctor. If there is any change, also see a doctor.
