What am I going to do? What can I do!

Sarah eats everything off the floor! I clean the floors regularly and dust bust all the time but that wont stop my teething little rugrat from eating fluff that has fallen off bed socks :barf:
or foam from her playmat or tambark, scrap that has fallen from the table, grass, leaves...practically everything..shocker! She has bits of foam in her mouth from her mat right now always chewing on something. Maybe I dont need a vacuum cleaner after all.

it does pass eventually and they learn a new trick

the best advice I can give you is-

never leave your mobile phone in reach of a 'everything in the mouth' babe-
that is how my phone was killed-
death by saliva

I find it hilarious how I find it so hard to feed my DS a piece of cheese but he will eat anything of the floor!

It is amazing how they want to put everything in their mouth. Just think that she is building up her immunity, that's how I see it.

DH is 15 months and STILL puts everything in his mouth. His faves are... cans of deodorant, textas, crayons (he bites bits off), chalk, toy cars and snails (sigh). I hope he gets over it soon.

 My just turned 1yo is the same!! Sit him in his highchair and he'll throw the food off when it seems he's had enough, but if i put him down before i sweep, then he's eating the same food up off the floor & cries if I take it off him.

Same goes for any little piece of anything left on the floor - i just tell myself it's good exposure to things & will build his immune system. That & made sure all the barbie shoes of DD's are up out of reach!

:iagree: my phone sounds fine from my end, but the ppl i'm talking to say i sound like a robot hahahaha - really gotta take it to get fixed.

oh and dont worry too much about eating things off the floor - they need a lil dirt and germies to help their immune system :)

ds chews everything (his current favourites are my thongs or dh's work boot laces) and he's not been sick yet :)

My DD was like this. She didn't grow out of until well after she started walking. Nearly sent me gray.
Everytime we went somewhere I'm scanning the floor like a bloodhound for things she could choke on because if it was there, you could be damn sure it would end up in her gob eventually.
What made it worse was that she is one of those kids that misses NOTHING - she has inbuilt radar :hair:

Best advice I can give is just worry about the dangerous/toxic stuff. All the rest is just fibre

What can you do about it?.............Get used to it:laughing:

My 21 month old is the same. Every morning after she eats her toast we have a battle. Me with the broom and her crawling around under the table eating crumbs off the floor.
She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth.
I asked the CHN about it and she said some kids don't stop 'mouthing' things until they're 3:eek:

Oh, I am soooo over the oral phase with my 14 month old. I know it's how they explore their world, but it's a tad irritating!

I've never vacuumed and cleaned the floors as often as I do now! My 15mo ds picks up the tiniest bits of anything off the floor and puts them straight in his mouth. He has improved though in recent months and if he thinks it's something he shouldn't eat he will bring it to me. But, he will eat food crumbs from days ago if they are somehow still around!

Oh yeah and he'll tear paper books then eat the paper too ...

Oh god, i have a long way to go, my DD is only 7 mnths old and she has been doing this since about 2 months. She can't even crawl yet and still manages to put things in her mouth.

I've had the best giggle to myself with all the previous posts.

I was a bit neurotic when she first started doing it, then decided too that she needs some germs to help her immunity.
