a friends little one had a vesecostomy, i don't know much about it though sorry. all i really know is that he needs something done to his kidneys and they don't want to do anything major until he is older, so they decided to give his kidneys a helping hand by draining his bladder directly. so far all has been great
hope all goes well for your little man :hugs:

A vesecostomy brings the bladder to the surface of the skin & thats how he'll urinate, we'll also have an option of putting a bag on, but we'll just use bigger nappies I think.
It will be temporary until he's big enough for another op to enlarge his bladder, they do that with part of the bowel so it's pretty major suregery. So he has to wait til he's bigger.
He's going in for it on the 7th of July.
We don't use cath bags, we just use in/out catheters where you drain the urine out of his bladder til next time. We do it atleast 5 times a day. This is where the vesecostomy will come in handy because it will drain contantly.
Thomas is doing well, he's talking really well now & copies everything. He wants to be on the move, but physically can't yet so is getting very frustrated. He's getting new AFO type braces soon, but will go right up his leg so he'll hopefully be standing soon against furniture. He'll have to wear them all day.
How is Miki going?
oh ok thanks for the explaining it to me sory for my ignorance on it at least i know now
Sound like it till really help him hey poor little thing, hope the stoma forms well, the hardest part i find is when its a new stoma so its still raw KWIM after a while they heal lovely like a earing whole KWIM, granulation tissue is the worst thing with them but there are cream to help it i find kanacombe to be the best one for us
Thats great he is making progress the brace sound great hope it helps him is is a KAFO or just an AFO
Maybe when he is standing they will get him a walking frame I cant recomend the R82 high enough we love it so helpfull
Sounds like abig op for your DS to go through poor baby thats good its not for a while, its good you can use the stoma in the mean time hey, and great that napies will work rather then a bag thats a bunus for sure
:hugs:
