View Full Version : May Sunshine Coast Get Together
Well we just had our second get together. It was great to catch up with the mums and bubs :smiliedance:
I thought I would start a new thread for those who would like to join the May? get together. Today the Ginger Factory was suggested as the next get together (one of the suggestions from the previous thread)
Any new comers are always welcome we would love to get to know you too :D
Any suggestions for a date and time? Does anyone want to organise? I don't want you to think I am pushy or anything, would be delighted if someone else would like to organise
I have no ideas, sorry! lol, but wouldn't mind meeting up with some sunnie coast mums.
yay. the ginger factory sounds fun. wed is a good day for me despite me being a no show so far:rolleyes: what about a weekend day? my eldest dd is at school but i'm sure she'd love to come to the ginger factory.
although it's probably less busy during the week.
is it too early to start wishing you all a happy easter ? dd has easter hols at the end of the week. yay. i love it when she's home from school. :smiliedance:
hi girls,
well it's not the ginger factory, but i was thinkin about a walk around bulcock beach, a stopover at the park for a play and morning/afternoon tea/bbq. a nice cheap one, we could bring our own snacks/lunch and have a picnic. the kids could have a play and not have to get frustrated with us chatting! i was thinkin during the week, only because i work weekends. let me know what you think......:fingerscrossed:
thanks to debster for organising yesterday, nice to get out of the house for a chat!:smiliedance: did you get your computer working fiona?

I think the park sounds fantastic. Jazz is of the age that she doesn't want to sit in the pram or on my lap anymore (as can be seen from yesterday). There is so much crawling to be done!
DH, Jazz and I head down to Happy Valley most Sunday lunches and eat fish and chips under the trees on a picnic blanket. It is lovely. On Monday, I packed Jazz and I lunch and we had our own little picnic down there. Verrrrry relaxing (we came home and both had a snooze).
I'm happy with the Ginger Factory as long as there is somewhere we can sit on the ground. I haven't been out there for years so I can't remember (and child friendly areas wasn't really a concern for me). Does anyone know if there is a section like this? I'll probably come even if there isn't.
Unfortunately weekends are out for me. DH works from 8am to 7pm so weekends are his main time with Jazz, so it is more "family time", but don't let that stop anyone from organising weekend stuff if it suits them.
Oh yeah, Deb we've actually had three get togethers. There was mostly no-shows at the second (Kings Beach Tavern). I was there and so was Fiona - we are sooooo social :D .
Hi
Chellby parks are fine by me.
Storm the ginger factory doesn't really have a 'ground' thing happening only couches and chairs and tables so probably not suitable for crawlers then.
Mooloolaba spit would be nice also one time - the fish and chip thing made me think of there.
HI everyone
Have just joined today as I am looking to join a parent's group. Have read all of your responses for a May catchup and it sounded like fish and chips in the park/ picnic in the park would suit most????? Mooloolaba Spit is pretty central. Maybe we could go there in May and then to other areas each month eg. Caloundra/Noosa/Coolum/Maroochydore. (I live in Mt Coolum).
What about Thu May 4th for lunch??? Any takers
Also, every wednesday, except during school holidays Babes In Arms is on at the Plaza. You can take your bubs/kids to the cinema and not worry if they are noisy. Next week is The World's Fastest Indian with Anthony Hopkins on at 10:30 am. Let me know if interested. Cost is $8.50
AliA
Alia thats fine by me for lunch :)
Movies sound good too but I can't make this one or has it been already?
Where is everybody gone too on this thread ????

Doesn't look like I will be able to join you guys until I go on leave :crying: Unfortunately I work and wed are particularly bad for me.
Oh well have fun and I will see you for the July one maybe....:fingerscrossed:
 I keep checking this thread too, and everyone seems to have disappeared! Alia and Deb, I will be there on 4th May. What about everyone else, wherever you are? Storm, Kate, Fiona???
Hi everyone,
Thanks Chellby for Matthew's birthday message - I've been madly organising for his party tomorrow so that's why I haven't been on here much recently. I think Fiona has had major problems with her computer so that might be why she hasn't been around! Not sure what's happened to Storm.
I'll try and make it to lunch on Thursday 4th May - I'd really like to see you all again, Deb and Chellby and to meet you Alia. What's a good time and place to meet at the spit? I start work at 3.30pm at Currimundi so I was wondering if 12pm would be ok?
Bye for now
Kate
i won't be able to make it yet again, going away for the weekend on the friday, and it would just be too much. mooloolabah sounds good though....
Hi Everyone,
12 pm is fine by me. Alia can you let us know where to find each other.
I will send Fiona a txt message as I have her number from the first meeting. I expect her computer isn't up and running.

Hey kids, I've not been a regular on BubHub lately. Thought I was getting too attached and tried to break the cycle. In truth, it was about time I did a HEAP of housework. Now I just have to tackle the ironing :( .
All looks good for me on 4th May. Being a Caloundra girl, I'll need more specific instructions on where "Mooloolaba Spit" is. Is it down past the Yatch Club?

Hello Sunshine Coast Mums - I would love to join you when I go on leave in June, have fun at your get together :)
Doesn't seem we are hearing back from Alia only one post???
I don't know the name of any of the fish and chip shops along there off the top of my head. Does anyone else know? I know the grassed area out the front.
I haven't sent Fiona a txt yet as was hoping to find out all the details. Any suggestions.

Hi! Hi! Hi!!
I'm baaaaaaaaack!
I am never, ever letting my computer hard drive crash again! What a nightmare!!
I would love to join you all on the 4th. Is it still a goer?
I'm a bit vague on the area too. Can anyone give specific directions for where to meet?
I like the idea too of going down to Happy Valley or some other similar sort of area, chucking down a big ol' picnic blanket and having a lazy afternoon under the trees! Ahhhh! bliss!
Looks like I'll be going back to work in early-mid June :crying: so I'll be out for most of the weekday meetings. I'll more than likely be going back full time (just have to work out the specifics with the boss) but the GREAT news is that I'll be able to work from home!!! YAY!!!!:smiliedance: I'll be doing a different job to the one I was doing when I went on maternity leave, but it's all VERY GOOD! I'm so pleased how it all turned out!

Bugger! Sorry to hear you can't make it!
I am going back to work in June, so we're going to cross schedules by the looks of things! D'oh! :(
Not to worry! I'm sure we'll catch up sometime!! I'll be working from home, so I may be able to sneak out for a lunch here & there!

There's been a bit of offline talk about changing the venue/time for tomorrow's meet.
It's been suggested to meet at Golden Beach Esplanade at midday tomorrow. Is this suitable for people??
We didn't want to put anyone out, it just seemed that the people who were all still coming were mostly from around Caloundra way.
What does everyone think?? Deb & Kate I have sent you guys text messages.
Canadiangirl, you are most welcome to join us!! I will PM you my mobile number if you want some more info.

Hey Cherie!
Would definitely like to meet up. I missed out on today's meet as I didn't know exactly where it was going to be. Hopefully will get to the next one.
What days are good for you? I'm free most days during the week...
Do you go to Windmill Park at all, I find that's a pretty good place to take my daughter as she can go on the swing...maybe we could catch up there at some point?

Oh Kyla, I'm so sorry!! :( Did you get my message?
I was going to call you but I didn't want to harrass you if you'd decided not to come.
I am really sorry! If I'd have known that you just wanted better directions (sorry about that too! I'm pretty hopeless at giving directions!!) I'd definitely have called you.
I hope we can all catch up again very soon! :)

Oh, Mrs Miggins! Here I was thinking you were one of the responsible ones of the group. Perhaps you need to hand that crown over to Debster, she seems responsible.
Canadian Girl, sorry about the mix up, we hope to see you at the next one.
I had a great time today. LOVED sitting in the park under the trees. I think we should do it much more often.
Deb, when you get organised with your sexy undies party, let us know the date. I will be there. You never know, perhaps it could be the catalyst for a baby brother or sister for Jazz :D . Dean will probably have a heart attack.
As it's only early in the month will we do another later in the month or are we waiting until June?
Canadian Girl, we hope to see you at the next one.
Today was great sitting at the park. I think we should try and do something twice a month, although we probably don't have the organisational skills to pull it off!:)

StormT, how dare you! You know I'm not responsible!! Why else would DOCS be at my door every day?!
It was so great sitting there under the trees, wasn't it?! Claire crashed before we even got to the lights near Stockland!
Oh, and Deb, I was serious about the undie party thing. I'd be happy to host one, but you guys all have to promise to come because I have no friends!!
Chellby, I think twice a month at least would be good!
We definitely have to do something before I go back to work in June!! (Although hopefully I can still smeak out here & there!!:devil6: )
OK Deb, when will it be?!:D
Hey girls
I'll reintroduce myself as I have been on holiday so haven't
been on for a while.
I'm Kelly, mum to Amelie 16 months - we live in Buderim
We'd love to catch up and meet you all.
We are free on Thursday's and Friday's - I work the rest of the
week.
I'll make sure I keep a better eye on this thread so we don't miss out!

Hi Kel!! I do remember you from a while back! (Actually, it probably wasn't really that long ago, was it?!)
Looking forward to meeting you at the next meet!
(We'll be rivalling the Sydney & Bris bubhubbers soon with our meets!!)
Had a great time today :smiliedance: Tyger was all tired out :) Thanks Fiona for pulling it all together.
Storm I think Fiona was interested in having the Undercover Party so I will chat with her about it otherwise will organise somewhere.
Twice a month would be good Chellby if can get organised maybe just pick a day and week ie: 2nd & 4th Thur or something.
Sippy Down mums that park sounds interesting haven't been there and would be great to meet you. I live nearer to Nambour.
It was nice to meet you Renee
Will be good to talk about our FIRST mothers Day next time :smiliedance:

They love new people!
The playgroup has only been running since the end of last year, so its still new. its $5 annual fee and $2 each time you attend, but if u cant afford it then they wont turn u away for not paying. its every wed from about 9.30-11 at the siena church, just turn up and introduce yourself!
I have started a new thread for anyone interested in meeting at windmill park, this date is just an idea we can change it if u want!
Cherie
