DD 8.5mths won't go to sleep because she is too busy sitting and crawling around the cot. This has been occurring for 3-4 mths but has no got considerably worse. Previously she would go to sleep after laying her down again after a couple of goes but now the only way I can get her to sleep is to hold her down which then involves her screaming for at least 10 minutes.

I've tried tucking her sleeping bag in the end of the bed to restrict movement (still can sit), she has a antiroll pillow which only delays movement by a few seconds, tucking a sheet in over her tightly, she manages to swing her legs up to get over the sheet and then rolls.

I don't know what to do she in infuriating me at the moment because she can self settle but because I'm having to hold her down to get her to sleep I think she is starting to lose that ability (getting use to me holding her to sleep).

I hope this helps, my little man would go down quite easily before he was able to crawl and sit. When he first started to crawl and sit i was told by Ngala (sleep school) that lay him down say good night and leave the room (they will cralwi around and sit up) if they cry (and my son always did) go back in and say mummy whill help lay him down and gentle apply pressure to their bottom, so when they go to sit up they can't. This worked for my son the first time with in 3 minutes it was great. But after the first few nights it just drove him crazy. So now we changed him whole sleep routine and now after a whole night time routine i just pop him into bed and he sits, i tell him i love him and leave the room. He then just goes to sleep. He gets up through out the night but always goes back to sleep.

I hope this helps
