I remember someone told me once that you can seal the lid of a empty formula tin lightly sand it back & then paint it with baby safe paint. ( after putting rice ect inside for noise)
It was a great idea for a really cheap amusing toy. And after seeing how many toys my baby has & all the mums at mothers group have I started thinking how lucky we are & then how unlucky some poor others are.......
so heres the idea.............
I have like 15 empty formula tins & I want to make them all up & any more I get so at the end of the year I can donate them to charity, to give to mums & bubs that have nothing for cristmas..., specially this crissie as its bound to be a hard one for all, fuel, food, rent, morgages all going up the way they are......
So has anyone heard of this ?? Can you please tell me the safe way to make them ???
Is anyone interested in helping me ?? Maybe if we could get enough people doing it we could approach a paint store to donate some paint for us or something ???? If we all got involved imagine how many tins we could make by cristmas ? Its recycling & helping little ones that have nothing.......

If anyone knows how or is interested please reply, I really think that this could happen........:)

Hey I love the idea!!

And why don't we see if we can go a step further..

instead of just making 'sound' things...
we can make.

- drums
- those stilt things with the strings that kids hold and walk on
- pencil tins or storage tins for things like little toys, biscuits, lollies
- Playdough kits (decorated tin with the recipe for playdough on it, and then all the ingredients packed inside to make some, with some little containers or zip lock bags for storing it in, and some 'simple' playdough toys, like $2 cookie cutters)

Oooh! I'm excited now!! :smiliedance:

Im in perth too btw.

Ive e-mailed a few charities & only heard back from the variety club & they can only accept ' new toys' due to health & saftey reasons.............bloody red tape !

Anyway no to let that stop us, Im goin to try the local womens refuges & churches & see what they have to say. For those of you in other states you could maybe try contacting your local groups & doing the same there??

I have put this idea on a few fourums now & this is the only one ive had more than 2 replies to:D, i actually thought id get a huge response so it has been abit dissapointing, i suppose everyone is abit busy. !!

oh well, thankyou for your replies & ill keep everyone posted !! :):)

I wish that the formula companies would make plastic refill packets to go in the tins-
save people ending up with so many tins.

Off topic but I turned 1 in to a 'Ring Tin' for a friend I thought might pop the question to his girl friend soon-
I covered it in pictures of engagement rings and cut a hole in the top for him to use it as a money box-
I think about 2 months later he did propose and his lovely fiancé now has the most beautiful engagement ring :D
