Hi there Nicki,
Hows it going? I am expecting our first around the 30th October. Still awhile to wait yet. We have just past the 17th week mark, and all seems to be going ok so far. We have our first OB appoint. on the 30th and our 2nd Scan on the 6th June, so really looking forward to that - we too don't want to know - even though there is a niggling in the back of my mind to find out. Hopefully on the day I am in the right frame of mind to say No.
We are also situated in Melbourne - Narre Warren to be exact, and will be going to the new Casey Hospital in Berwick. Where abouts are you?
Are you working? I work for my parents in a small family business so that keeps me entertained at the moment.
Hope all is well.

Hi ladies,
I'm due around the beginning of october. the date changes so much that, that is the best way to say due date now.... had my 19-20 weeks scan last thursday. it was outstanding. got to see so much more, but didn't want to find out sex of baby. this is my first one. i am located in woodvale, which is just outta bendigo so will be in bendigo base hospital. glad to hear all is well and everyone is enjoying it all so far although i am a little bored with nothing to do. got a little bit of work coming up in june so that should be good. but getting plenty of rest as there is not going to be much of that after the baby is born. catch you all again soon. JO
Hi everyone,
I am due on the 22nd of October with our first baby and have an ultrasound on Friday which I can't wait for. After having a miscarriage at 8 weeks last August I am still a bit paranoid that something is going to go wrong but so far so good (minor bleed at 10 weeks that freaked me out but 12 week ultrasound showed a healthy, growing little baby which was fantastic). I am in Melbourne too - we live in Footscray and will be going to The Freemasons Hosptial in East Melbourne. Hope everyone is feeling well (second trimester is much nicer than the first) and gradually getting their head around what's coming up.

Hi all,
Just a quick update to check out how everyone is going. I am heading into my 19th week, and everything is going a ok.
Got to hear the baby's heart beat on Monday - that was so good. It was a strong 160 beats p/min. We get to see our little bubby next Monday - can't wait!!! At least the days are flying by quickly so that is good.
Started looking around at furniture and stuff for the nursery etc. Its amazing how many items you need. I am really annoyed - we have a Baby Target near our place - but was told a few days ago that it is probably closing down. Not happy!!
But hey, quite sure everything will work out.

Hi Natalie, you're the second one to mention a Baby target closing down- maybe we should all head down and see if we can grab some bargains...
I am still at the looking stage for equipment but have great intentions to start purchasing this month. I love the mid year sales. It'll be a bit different pushing a pram around them next year :) . Strangely although I must have looked at every cot in and around Melbourne ( dozens and dozens) I still can't choose a style, colour or anything- why am I making it all so difficult? And as for prams...I still have NO idea
I had my 19wk 3day scan on monday and bub is fine though was being very lazy and wouldn't pose for a picture!!! :(
I'm getting bigger by the day and got a nasty stock at how big and blue veined my boobs are when I went to Myers to get measured up!
To you and everyone else due around the same time - we're halfway there now girls- can you believe it!!! :D

Hi there Nicki,
yep I find it hard to believe how quickly the weeks are flying by - and there is so much still to do!!!
yep I can confirm all Baby Targets are closing down and heading back into the Target stores. I headed to the one at Fountain Gate on Sunday - not much left in store and the discounts aren't really huge. A bit disappointed.
However, overheard one of the sales girls saying that in the actual Target stores they will be increasing the size of the baby section to accommodate the range. So hopefully that is a bit more promising.
I have my scan today - I am so excited. Hubby keeps asking me on whether I want to find out the sex - I am in 2 minds about it. I thought if we put each way in a hat and then pull out one - we will go with that. Oh I don't know!!!

Hi there all,
well I had my 18-20 week scan last night. Got to see a little bit - but the little bugger wouldn't roll over. We did get a slight glimspe of the face and can see where its eyes are, we saw the spine and the kidneys and the heart beating away and its little hands. It was so good to see a little thing (my nickname for it at the moment is the little alien) growing in my tummy. Was a bit surprised - wasn't sure exactly how much we would see - wasn't extremely clear.
Anyway lots of pregnant women are talking about movement - haven't felt anything yet I don't think. Not sure what I am looking for. I did have a bit of a tummy beforehand - so maybe the bubby has lots of padding in there.
Hope everyone is going well.

Glad to hear your scan went well.... you didnt say if you found out the sex or not?
In regards to feeling the baby i remember with my first pregnancy that it was almost a week to the day after my 19 wk scan that i started feeling him move around, so i am sure you will feel the baby soon, before long you will wish it would sit still for a while !! hehe
I am 15 wks with my second pregnancy and think i have just started feeling bub move, mainly at night when i am lying very still, not 100% sure but fairly sure. It is a lovely and reassuring feeling.
Take care
Tracey

Hi October mums to be,
21 and a half weeks gone now- and my bump has finally moved from wiggling and squirming to BIG  movements. I nearly fell off the sofa last night when I got kicked and I really do mean kicked! It wasn't sore but it was an immense and unexpected sensation. My reaction was classic- giggles and funny faces  , so I am glad I was at home to experience it :D .
Is anyone else getting the kung-fu treatment on their belly yet?
I am going to make hubby sit with his hand on my belly all night tonight so he can hopefully at last feel something too.
Nicki
Hi Nicki (and everyone else),
hope everyone is well. I am definitely feeling quite strong movements as well at 21.5 weeks but they are more like big lurching movements rather than kicks. I have felt them a couple of times on the outside when I have my hand on my belly but I have no idea when they are going to happen so haven't been able to get my husband to feel them yet. Once they turn into definite big kicks maybe then he can feel it. It really is an amazing feeling isn't it? Really quite freaky to have a living, moving being inside your body.
We made our first big purchase of the pram last week which is sitting in a big box in our loungeroom (the room that will be the baby's room is full of a bath and 2 toilets for our renovations and of 2 doors on tressles that are being painted - our house is chaos - really hope it is all ready by October). Has anyone else bought any furniture etc yet?

We bought our cot and change table, and car seat, all are still in their boxes, in the room that will become the nursery. i don't want to start putting the room together until I am about 34wks. Don't ask me why , maybe I am trying to hang onto my pre-parent life as long as possible, maybe I am worried about tempting fate . I don't mind buying and having the stuff but just don't feel "ready" to create a nursery yet. I suppose I'll rearrange it about a hundred times before bump arrives anyway
What kind of pram did you get Cath? We are looking at the 3 wheeled Valco's with the additional bassinet- but may have to change our mind depending upon whether we find a car seat that'll fit ( the one we bought is a convertible and some of these- our included- don't fit in the infant position into smaller cars- so beware). It will dictate whether we also need to go for a capsule.

Hello Nicki,
I also had an 'interesting' kicking experience last night on the lounge. I was watching Foreign Correspondant and out of the blue came this unexpected whack to the (what felt like) my spine! Baby has been nicely kicking after every dinnertime each night, but this one made me sit up straight. Wow.
I had a major attack of the vagues yesterday too. I finished work and came home and slept for three hours. Feeling slightly more 'with it' today.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the kicking and hope that baby doesn't go for the spine too often. Little darling! :D

Heya Cath,
My partner & I have been so lucky to have all of our relatives smother us with the necessary baby furnitures- cot, pram, portable cot, baby car seat and change table. One favourite Aunt is addicted to E-Bay and she has scored some amazing bargains- we've been quite overwhelmed by other's generosity. We've purchased a baby bouncer and most of the clothing on the other hand (and doctor's expenses). I just don't know how much baby gear is enough?
I have not decorated the baby's room yet either, I guess he/she will sleep with us for a while. I am looking forward to setting the room up however.
Best Wishes,
Shelli

Hi everyone! I'm nearly 20 weeks with bubby number 3, and technically I'm due in the November, but neither of my other 2 have gone over, so I'm expecting to deliver very late October (hopefully not Halloween!).
I've felt 'Pumpkin' move for about 4 weeks now. She (we're saying she but have no idea of the sex) was lying transverse, but 2 days ago I had the feeling like she was moving furniture in there, and now she's head down. My bump has completely changed shape! I had this lovely 'bowling ball', but now it's really high.
Hi again,
we bought the Swallow Beema Q 3 wheeled pram from Babyco and also bought the bassinet that goes with it because the bassinet is half price at the moment (think the baby might be sleeping in this when it first comes home - don't want to buy an actual bassinet/cradle and think that maybe it will be too small to go straight into the cot). We decided on the Beema Q because my husband had printed a report from Choice magazine about 3 wheel prams and the Beema was listed as the "best buy" and passed all the saftey and durability tests. I had been leaning toward getting a Phil and Ted's E3 because it can be converted later for 2 children but it didn't pass the safety test which was a bit scary (and it also had limited storage). The Beema has good storage, is not too wide (some of the 3 wheelers are really wide and would struggle to go through a door/supermarket aisle) and was a reasonable price - $399 + $69 for the bassinet at the moment (normally $138).That's interesting about the car seat Nicki -will make sure to check it will fit when we buy one.
I'm pretty sure I won't be setting up the room for quite a while yet either (both because we are still renovating and it would feel a bit weird -still quite a while to go really). I'm quite happy to have things in boxes until I am 30 something weeks (sort of good to know we are getting a bit organised though).
Good work with getting heaps of stuff from your relatives Shelli. I have recently discovered E-Bay as well and have just bought a change table for $81 - pretty happy about that. It's hard to know how many baby clothes are enough isn't it? You hear of people having to change their babies 5 times a day because they vomit, poo etc all over themselves so it seems like you will need a bit but then again they grow quickly so who knows.
Anyway I hope everyone is well and feeling good. Speak to you soon.
Cath

JUst thought I'd share some bump movements with you all- my bump has taken to being much more active during the day and had it's first visit to the dentist with me yesterday . It doesn't like the noise at the dentist and kicked and poked me all the way through. I tried to tell it I was only getting a scale and polish :D but nope it doesn't like the dentist. It made lying still quite a challenge for me.
The other funny thing is when I am at my desk at work and am doing quite a lot of typing I get increased activity- it's like its trying to type too.
What makes your bump active?
Nicki
Hi again,
I've noticed that the baby moves after our dogs have had one of their barking fits. When we let our dogs out of where they sleep in the morning they go a bit nuts and bark like mad for a couple of minutes. I've noticed every time they do this the baby seems to start moving. Hopefully it will get used to this noise by the time it is born and won't cry too much when the crazy dogs bark (as it is a fairly regular occurrence).
My husband felt the movement for the first time last night. I had just gone to bed and started feeling really strong kicks (these were definitely kicks rather than the lurching feelings I have been having) -it did it about 6 times in a row. My husband missed the strong kicks but when he put his hand on my stomach there were a few lighter kicks and he felt them -he said to me "is that you?" and I told him it was the baby moving - he said it felt like a twitch in my stomach. It was nice that he could feel it too - it's definitely not in my head.
Hope everyone is well.
Cath

Hi there Tracey (samsmum04),
Thanks for your post - apologies for not writing back sooner. Been really busy at work at the moment.
Anyway we didn't find out the sex of the baby - we didn't really get a chance - it wouldn't roll over for a picture. I think hubby & I were a bit unsure about it in the first place - so maybe it new to keep itself a secret.
Well in the last few days I was felt some movement - yippee!!! Nothing to definite, but they are kind of soft churning - turning movements, but they are seem to be occuring more often now.
Hi everyone else,
Currently I am 21 weeks - I too am due about 30/10/05 - I too don't want a Halloween baby - not sure whether that would be a good luck type thing.
As for baby furniture and access - I finally tied hubby down to have a look in a few stores (he is so opinionated) we have made some decisions - so now its his turn to clean out the room for the baby and we will start buying stuff. That's the most exciting thing about it all - spending money!!!
I have the next 2 weeks off from work - so hopefully I might be able to start decorating the room. I have found some stick on motifs in spotlight that are really cute - but they are removable later on - that's really cool.
Catch you later all.

Hi Natalie
I am glad you didnt find out the sex, it is always nice to get the surprise :)
We have decided we will find out this time (in two weeks) unfortunately i just dont have the patience to wait second time around..... but who knows maybe baby wont want to show us like what happened to you !!
I have started to feel baby for sure now but mainly at night when i am lying in bed, very still :) Its great that you have started to feel it too, probably by now you are feeling it alot more !! :D

exactly 3 months to go now :D
I am noticably starting to slow down now, have suddenly noticed I cannot bend at the waist as easily now. "wee monster" is very active and much more frequently during the day, and I find turning over in bed a lot more difficult now. I'm doing not too bad really.
Hows everyone else progressing as they head into 3rd trimester...
