View Full Version : Registry Office wedding?
Has anyone had a registry office wedding?
Why?
Was it worth it? Would you do it again?
Just curious, I am thinking about it.:D
Any opinions, thoughts welcome.

Not yet, but that's what will be happening here!
We are both still married to our exes, but we have been living together for about 7 years on and off and we think we might want to grow old(er) together.
We have commitments and don't want to spend a lot of money on a lavish wedding.
We don't really believe the State should interfere in our domestic affairs, but it would be much simpler to be married if he was given a post o/s and families were allowed to go.
We don't want to feed a whole heap of well wishers!
We've both gone the big, waste of money thing before.
We don't want a whole heap of gifts or money.
We don't want the kids to think that official marriage is more important than how two people feel for one another.
Good luck with what's good for you!!!
I just want to be married :o I am sick of waiting. I do not want to spend all this money on one day :o I could pay it off my house. We will see, DP wants a wedding though...hmmmmmmmmm :)

If I was to get married thats exactly where I'd do it. I just dont see the point I would never have the money for a lavish wedding
But I would have a gathering afterwards in a restuarant or somewhere after so everybody could celebrate with us and give us gifts :D

We did it!
My gorgeous hubby and I got married at the registry office in brisbane. We invited a few of our close friends and family, then went to the Irish pub where we had our first date for meals. Everyone, including us, thought it was a great day, no stress no fuss, low budget. our entire wedding including dress, cake, food for everyone etc cost about $1500
Should I mention I was 8 months pregnant at the time :D

We did !
It was fantastic .. we just didnt want to spend money on a big wedding and didnt want a big wedding anyway.
It was so defintetely worth it.
We went to Sydney office with 30 family and freinds and then we had our reception at the botanic gardens restaurant + photos in the gardens - we had a perfect day.
I would reccomnend it for sure.
good luck :goodvibes:
We got married in the registry office!!
We were meant to have the big wedding, had started making plans - and I realised I was actually dreading it - not the marriage but the wedding! So I thought we would have a small wedding
We had about 20 people there
We still had a professional photographer and flowers
We had a limo (as a whole bridal group)
We asked for guests to join us for dinner after at their own expense (we booked a balcony table at a beach hotel)
We had a cream puff stack as our cake
I wore a white knee length dress, the guys wore suits and matching red ties, the girls were asked to wear a black dress around knee length of their choice.
We had gorgeous red, black and white invites.
The total price also included a hotel room for two nights (1 night me and bridesmaids, the next night me and my new DH)
All up it cost well under $2000 (inc my dress which was 300 ish)
I would not change it, we got to have a beautiful day, with minimal cost and zero stress!!
Then we went to Byron Bay and blew our wedding savings on beer and snorkel tours!!!

Awww lovely:D
Wow, this is truly making it sound better and better.....:D
Now to convince DP;)
plus when you have a wedding it seems like its organised so everyone else has this great time , and its such a rushed time for the bride and groom.
With the Reg. wedding I really felt the day was about 'us'.
I did it! It was great! Stuff spending 10 grand on a wedding. Ours was under 1 grand. Then another 2 for the honeymooon. :)
