Hello,

We are soon going to start to TTC and I have been looking around for a list of all the recommended vitamins and minerals i should be ensuring i get during both this stage and into pregnancy.

I have already been taking fish oil and the pregnancy multivitamin Kelamin http://www.nutrimed.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=57 which i was recommended by my natropath/nutritionist (Phil Sheldon for those South Aussies who listen to him on the radio). I am a vegetarian however i feel i get quite a varied and healthy diet so i am not concerned about that.

I am keen to match up what i am taking already with what i should be getting to ensure there are no gaps (without bugging Phil endlessly with my endless research! lol). Comparing Kelamin to Elavit and Blackmores it looks really good however some of the more complex vitamin names I am still looking into to compare them side to side.

Does anyone know any good web sites which explain clearly what you need and how much?

Thanks!

I don't know a good website- though I'm sure there's many.

Folic acid (or folate) 400mcg a day
Zinc-30mg a day
Selienium - 100mcg a day
Vit B6- up to 50mg a day
Vit B12- up to 50mg a day
Vit E- 300-400iu a day
Vit C - 1000mg a day
Manganese - 5mg a day

If you look at one of the pregnancy/breastfeeding multi vitamins- they have most of the good things you need. But folic acid is very important- helps prevent spina bifida
