For DS1 4th birthday this year we were thinking about getting a pinata for him but probably won't blind find though, still deciding on that.
Just wondering is he too young?
Alot of his friends are his age or that little bit older.
So, what types are out there as we haven't decided on a theme?

I went to a 4th b'day party on the weekend and they had a pinata. All the girls had a bash at it and no-one got whacked, which was good! The dad had to end up kind of ripping it open a bit so that the next few kids were able to bash it open to spill the contents. I think it would be fine, if well supervised. The only thing that bothered me was that the stuff that was in it... yeah, not great. Your money may be spent better elsewhere. There were chuppa chups and tiny marshmallows in packets, but it was mostly cheap plastic yuck like tiny yo-yos and plastic animals/trees etc.. A whole lot of plastic more than anything...

Hope this helps a bit!

YOu can get pinatas that have strings. Everyone gets a string & you all pull at the same time. Only one of the actual strings opens it. Or they could have a turn at pulling the string one at a time!

Was a hit at my ds' 3rd birthday :D

ETA: you fill these ones with whatever you like.

I had a pinata for DD 1's birthday, mom made it in the shape of a chick (baby chicken). This year we bought them at Kmart, on sale, for $10 each (I have seeing smaller ones for like $20-30 bucks!). It's a traditional thing for us; we must have a pinata! Just don't blind fold them until they get a little older I think.
