View Full Version : Changing Obstetrician?

Hi there,

I have recently been referred to seek a second Obstetrician's opinion, and have decided that I much prefer the information and feedback from this new Doctor than from the OB that we had been seeing for the rest of the pregnancy (I'm at 31 weeks) - the challenge I am facing is that at our private hospital, there is a 1/4 chance on any given weekend of receiving the care of a group of obstetricians, including the one I saw from the beginning of the pregnancy until now.

I am visiting him again today  leaving things to the last minute - and I'm not sure how / what to say to him about changing to his colleague. I don't doubt his abilities in the slightest - I just found that at this stage, with the current things happening in my pregnancy that the second OB is more reassuring to me.

However I am also wary of my decision making abilities as early in the pregnancy after a suspected miscarriage of a twin at 7weeks I changed GPs due to an insensitive comment made by a couple of doctors at the surgery - and then have recently changed back to the original GP and am happy there. I am concerned that my decision making abilities are shonky

I'm not sure whether I'm just being intimidated by the first OB (I can be really easily intimidated by Doctors) or whether I am being suitably cautious & there is not yet enough evidence either way to make a decision on which OB.

Has anyone else experienced such indecision or challenges like this who might have some advice?
