View Full Version : I Need A Few Tips!
:smiliedance: Hey Guys!!
I'm not sure if anyone can help me...
My partner will be home from Afghanistan in 6.5 - 7 weeks..
Obviously he can't tell me an exact date but i'm wondering am i allowed to meet him at the airport or?
I don't want to ask him too much as i know he is not allowed to talk about it.
If anyone has any tips it would be great!
I can't see why not? I am sure your face would be the first he would love to see!
Yay .. you survived !!
From reading elsewhere someone said they can meet their men at the airport but then the men have to go back to base and be debriefed or something .. not quite sure as we aren't army.
I know in Darwin the spouses meet their other halves cos it makes the newspapers.
Ask your man next time you chat with him what the go is. Would be hard on kids if they could only see dad for like 10 mins and then he has to go with his group back to base.
Just a thought as something was mentioned on one of the defence forums, that we should be cautious about what we post on forums but also talk about on telephones to friends. I got roused by my DH the other day when I was telling my friend the ports where DH's ship will be going. He said 'you don't know who could be listening'.
Yes i agree KJEmum.. That's a very good point.. Also quite scary when you think about it...
I met hubby at the airport when he flew in from his Middle East trip and it was the best moment ever... I was in tears. Seriously - I think I held him there for about half an hour it was just so emotional...
I also got a cab to and from the airport cause I knew that I would be in NO state to drive!!! Just something to think about (plus we got to snuggle up in the back of the cab like teenagers again lol)
These last few weeks went the longest for me. Hubby was there on a 6mth deployment and it was so tough. Good luck and happy reunion!!!
My Dh is in the Navy and we got a letter from his captain letting us know when they would be expected to arrive, because it is good for the boys (and girls) to see their partners waiting for them. It is as much for them as it is us and the kiddlets.
My DH was in the Gulf and although much of it was secret, he was able to let me know things once they had happened. Maybe you could give the FLO a call and see what they say...
Yay my hubby has 21 days to go...
lp in wa
Absolutely  and usually there will be a senior ranking colleague there with you to greet him home as well.
The correct answer is: Of course you can!! If the unit was doing their job properly they should be contacting you and letting you know the exact flight details and where you can meet him.
If you have any questions you can call the Unit Welfare Officer who SHOULD be happy to assist. (But... not all Unit Welfare Officer's do their jobs properly and/or happily).
