Ruby Isabell

9th April 2008, 14.31pm 8pounds 15 oz (4065gms) 53cm long & 35.5cm head circrumfrence

8th of April.. After asking a million and one questions on bubhub about induction i went to bed at 9pm thinking about the next morning having my waters broken at 7am...

1.30am 9th April - i get woken by a contraction and i think argh great another thing annoying me and go back to sleep ignoring it thinking its not real.. 10mins later again.. keep ignoring it. but it keeps happening.. i finally wake my husband at 2am and tell him.. they keep going and at about 4am they were 7-8mins apart and thats when we ring the hospital and ask them what to do.. because i was 11 days over i was expecting them to rush me in.. but no they were like if u want to stay home stay.. and that was it... 30mins later i get my parents to my house and go to the hospital coz i wanted to check the baby coz of not feeling movement.. get there at 5am through the emergency part and logged in.. breathing through a few contractions.. cant believe they wanted to get my details.. couldnt they ask my husband!!! but anyway

Was being real stubborn and decided to walk up with the secruity guard. got to the reception when an almight contraction hit me... couldnt move.. the staff freaked and got me a wheel chair.. god i so didnt want to make that sort of fuss i was so embarresed being push in a chair.. (STUBBORN ME)

Get up there and put in a delivery suit.. own shower/toilet u get the drill... get put on a ctg machine and just as i thought baby was asleep and they needed her awake b4 doing anything in regards to breaking waters.. so they gave me a heap of water to drink.. walked around ect.. helped a little.. alot of the time they left the room and let me and dh deal with the contractions.. they were busy.. 7am came and passed and i asked about the breaking of the waters coz id been having contractions the whole time now 6mins apart (no drugs) they said untill they come to 5mins apart they wont do anything coz there so busy.

i was so angry but trying to not be for my baby.. got put on the ctg machine again as well as an internal at which stage the cervix was 4cm dilated and fully faced.. (good apparently) anyway lets fast forward to 11.30am.. when my contractions finally started getting to 5mins apart and constant and very intence... they got a doctor in and a few midwifes coz of the baby on the ctg machine was moving much.. did an ultrasound as well.. i was put on a drip of water to up my fluids very fast to help the baby to be awake..

gosh my hand got so cold from that... once i was on the bed and they broke my waters at 12.30pm i couldnt take it any more.. i had to have gas.. but the nurses and doctors and midwifes were all so proud that i made it that far without... as was my husband.. when i was on the gas they had to roll me from side to side as it affected my bloodpressure and heartrate but was keeping me calm as calm can be... she did another internal only 5cm dilated at the waters were broken.. i nearly cried because i wanted to push so bad.. but she said the reason i wanted to push was that the baby had turned back posteria.. hence my back absolutly killing me.. i wouldnt even let hubby touch me.. he was trying to hard to keep me calm and do everything but he felt absolutly useless seeing me is so much pain.. in the next hour everything got worse baby started getting weired and so did i.. they kept moving me and i kept yelling at them saying i want to push... 2pm ...i think (very blury details on gas) they did another internal coz i kept yelling saying i want to push and tried pushing... and as i thought i was already fully dilated they were shocked at how fast it was happening.. roll me on my back.. contractions one on top of the other and now they said push when ever u want to.. so i did.. they tried to take the gas off me but i think they kinda got scared because i wouldnt let them.. it was so painfull because of her position and i was asuming she would be bigger then my first. (wasnt expecting a whole 500grams bigger), during this time they gave me a local anethectic down there as they thought that i might have needed an episiotomy but just after they gave me the local i pushed and they saw the beginning of herhead crowning... 31mins later Ruby Isabell was born and straight on my chest... and i was hysterical.. as u can imagin.. then things went all wrong.. they took her off me and i went off my nut yelling for my baby.. give me back my baby.. i swear i was screaming louder now i wasnt pushing... they had to give her oxygene.. i didnt know what was going on.. the doctors told me she wasnt breathing very well and i need to calm down as my body was also going into shock.. also that she was cold and needed to be heated.. the next 15mins felt really long not being with my baby.. but my placenta came out without the injection which i was surprized at since i didnt breastfeed or anything to help it come out..

When she came back i was able to breastfeed and i was surprized at how well she was attaching.. :D once i was able to get up and get a shower we all went back to a room where i would be staying.. unfortunatly i couldnt actually go to the toilet so they had to put a catheder in.. im glad they did because my bladder was really full so full the doctor recommended that it stay in for at least 24hours.. (which ment i couldnt leave the hospital as soon as i hoped) Everything is going well that were home. and a family of 4.
