Hi all,

I am 10.5 weeks along and have been convinced that I would go to Sandringham for the birth of my first child. Its local and public and my sister had her first born their before it closed down (before re opening).
But after going for my tour and boking I was far from impressed with the new delivery suites (so clinical and they actually felt dirty).
I looked online at the birthing suites at Monash (Southern Health Birth Centre) and felt a little more realxed at the more 'homey' looking delivery suites.
Now perhaps its the hospital labour model that has put me off but i Was hoping some of you could share your experiences with both Sandringham and Monash birth suites (midwife model) so I can quickly change if need be.
I know its pushing things as I hear everything gets booked up quickly for both places.
I would appreciate feedback so I can get moving
Thanks a bunch

i was considering a birth centre, have since decided to go private, but my aunty who is a midwife only suggested the monash one, said it has a good rep and is really good. i also know a girl who gave birth there in july last year and really liked it...

i dont know about sandringham but i have delivered at Monash-Clayton, was also in the midwife led care model, when i went in i was put into a nice room with dim lighting and would say it was the homey room. when i went to give birth( went in b4 for pre labour) someone was in my room and got put into the clinical one, but they were really nice and got a lamp to dim the room. Hopefully this time i get the nice room!

Thanks so much for replies and opinions. Every bit of information helps :)

I have spoken with midwife and pr/booking liason at monash as was instantly relaxed and felt welcomed. they were lovely and patient and hlepful in explaining as much as they could over the phone about their services. :goodvibes:

Have booked in (can't get first antenatal appt till i am 16 weeks - but its better than a no we are fully booked)

Hopefully the good feeling continues when i go and see them for a tour this week

Thanks again and anyone else who has any feedback on either place - i would still love to hear it.
