Hi I am a newbie. I have just started taking the nasal spray and then on to the injections very soon.

The plan at this stage is to do the ICSI, a day 5 embie and also to have two embies transferred (if we get them).

I have one biological child 10 and a step child also 10.

Any advise is really appreciated. Sorry if Im not up with the lingo or how things work.

 Welcome Mrs Mermaid,

I am also on my first IVF cycle but am quite a bit ahead of you. Im on day 9 of my 2 week wait!

It sure is an emotional time as u go thru all the stages but in the end all will be worth it as we get our :bfp:

You will find this website very helpful, I honestly do not believe I could get thru it as strong as I am with out the girls on here and their wonderful support.

How are u finding the nasal spray? I didnt have any dramas with that or injections but everyone is different.

I wish u well Mrs Mermaid, goodluck on ur IVF journey.

:hugs:

Hi and Welcome Mrs Mermaid:wave:

You will find lots of encouragment, love, support and laughs here in on bubhub. Best of luck with your cycle.

Any questions just ask, there is always someone around that will know the answer .

My tips are to try not to compare your treatment schedule with anyone elses because all clinics do it differently, stay positive, happy and focused and remember its all worth it in the end!!!!

fingers crossed for a bfp for you!!!

hugs
Sarah

Mrs Mermaid firstly welcome! this is a great place to chat and get through the journey. I am on syneral nose spray at the moment and hope injections will start wed-thur this coming week. I am surprised they are alowing you to put 2 embies back I was refused this option.

I am really emotional from the drugs and maybe the experience of trying to concieve for so long, I am also having ICSI. Good luck with your journey be seeing you around the traps, have you logged into April-May IVf forum.

Heaps of us are doing it at the same time so its a great place to vent or ask questions :)

LIH by the sounds of it we should be doing things around about the same time!

Apparently I only scraped by getting two implanted as we only are having the one fresh cycle we really wanted to give that cycle the best chance. I already have same age children one step and one bio so I was able to demonstrate that as a family we knew what we were getting into if its a multiple.

Im really interested in the day 5's verses the day 2/3 thing. That is another choice we need to make that Im finding difficult.

Thanks again

Hi Mrs Mermaid, Welcome to this fantastic forum. You will find it a great support.

I started my synarel today and will go for around 10 days till the injections, how are you finding the synarel? any side effects?

And to the experienced ivffer's, is there anyting that helps to reduce the side affects? i think i have seen others mention keeping hydrated with lots of water but anything else? Did anyone take any herbs like dong quai etc that are used to treat menopause. I have this idea that if syneral causes menopause type symptoms that those herbs might help.

MMI also have to have a c-section so not sure if this helped him agree to two embies or not?

Hello Mrs Mermaid,
Welcome!!!
I am also a newbie in my first cycle, and we are about the same stage. I have been on the Synarel since last Tuesday & start the injections tomorrow night. So we could be going through the egg pickup & 2 week wait together :)
We are also having the ICSI & 5 day transfer.
I wanted to have 2 embies put back, but my hubby is a twin & I have twin brothers so our chances of a multiple pregnancy are higher, so I have relented & said ok to only 1. Our FS, although recommending against it, would have allowed us to have the 2 implanted back, but he also let us know that we could end up with 4 babies out of the 2 eggs, which is a road I really don't want to go down - haha
Our doctor said the 5 day will be best for us, I don't know what determines whether you have the 3 or 5 day transfer.

CantWait08, I don't know if it helped or not, but I've been taking Gingko Biloba & Magnesium, which my chemist recommended, Both are for PMS symptoms & stress, and have been drinking heaps of water and I've fortunately had few side effects from the Synarel. The only side effect I have had is my face has been permanently hot, as if I am sunburnt.

Good luck, and never feel alone, you've got hundreds of friends on this forum who are always here for you, whether you are feeling happy, sad, or just need to vent.

Mrs Mermaid unfortunatley the clinic I am using has a policy of never putting 2 embies back, I really wanted them to though I just want a :bfp: badley.

It is also the policy of the clinic I am going to to transfer at day 5 this is at blasocyst stage (sorry 4 bad spelling) and we were told this means they can monitor for viable embrio's and it is much more sucessful to wait 5 days. Something about the amount of times the cells divide and how some will tend to taper off between day 3-5 and become unviable.

Hope to see :bfp: 4 you soon

I really getting super freaked out at the moment. I am really worried about how I will cope if we dont get a positive :( I have a history of PTSD and this is really making me worry.

I think we are giving ourselves the best chances. I wish we had the option to do it more then the once I think that would take some of the pressure off.

Other issue the clinic usually does day 3s so Im not sure how experienced they are at getting to day 5 :( Lets hope Im a good statistic for them :)

in relation to the 3 v 5 day embryo, I think its good to be guided by what your clinic does. That is what they have experience with and the best results.

As far as I am aware if you go for a 5 day embie you are able to pick a "clear winner" because most embryos look the same after 2/3 days, but in saying that more than half of your embies wont survive to 5 days.

My clinic prefer to transfer after 2/3 days because they feel the best place for the embie is in mum and also at 3 days the embryo culture requires changing and this is more handling of the embryo. If you have a few failed attempts at a 3 day embie they will change it up to 5 days to see if that gives better results.

I have had 1 x 2 day transfer and now have 3 year old twins. In november last year we had a 3 day transfer, another BFP, but sadly m/c soon after.

best of luck and have faith in your clinic.:flowerz:

The issue is we are only doing the one EPU. So this is our first and last chance.

I wont to make sure we pick the right one and dont risk freezing the right one and having it have to make it throught he frostie process.

I wish we had the option for another EPU but reality was we were only going to do the AIH and not take this step. Hubby has been good to give me this chance and I dont think it would be fair to ask him to compromise again.

I need all the luck I can get at the moment.

Hi again MM,
If this is your only chance, then you do need all the luck and help you can get. Are you doing acupuncture??
Apparently accupuncture can increase your chances of success by 65%.
Good luck, and I hope you get the BFP!!

Hi Mrs Mermaid

Congrats on starting your IVF journey.

I am currently on my two week wait and feel like I am just constantly looking at the time ticking away to find out if it was successful or not.

So the tips I recommend:

1. Watch - as you will always be looking at it, ie looking at it so you know when to take your meds, what time to get ready for the hosptial, what time to ring for results etc.

2. Hot pack, hot pack, hot pack - could not live without it. It is a little treasure to heat and put on your tummy. It makes me feel so much better if it is a bit achy.

3. Tissues - to blow your nose with the nasal spray and to help with the emotions you are going through.

4. Panadol - good for the headaches and tummy aches.

5. Ear muffs - for your poor hubby when he has to deal with the demon women that came out of no where.

6. Comfort food! to make you feel good.

I too had the fear of whether to transfer one or two. I had two embies make it to blasto and had planned to transfer two. My Dr told me of the risks and benefits minutes before the transfer and I then made a decision to have one transfered and one frozen. I had the same thoughts in which one is the right one to transfer BUT I stopped that type of thinking straight away. I made up my mind there and then that I made my decision and am going to live with it and not look back. I have been much calmer knowing I want to give it my best and try to enjoy every day.

I am sure it will be such an enlighting experience for both of you and wish you the best in this journey.

Mrs Mermaid I have everything crossed for you, try not to put to much pressure on yourself. I have herd of woman having great fresh transfers with good embies to spare and freeze.

Your still young enough to have good odds of getting :bfp: on your first transfer. I know how you feel I am worried about how I would react if I do not get great results instantly I feel I have waited so long and been through so much.

I keep telling myself there are always other options as much as I don't want to take them just to know I have other options makes me feel less pressured.

Best of luck to you with getting your :bfp: soon
