They have just increased their midwifery benefit to $1500!! And thats per financial year! $1000 is for confinement and delivery for the midwife - and $500 for pre/post natal appointments.

If you (are like me) and fall pregnant over the course of two separate financial years, then you can claim the $500 twice; essentially claiming up to $2000 for midwifery benefits!

PLUS - you dont have to be on the top hospital cover; the basic public hospital cover has the same benefits :yelclap:

Hi there!!
I am currently 28 weeks pregnant my partner is in the navy and we have been looking at getting defence health/navy health, but were not sure about it, is basic cover alright priced? I know this baby will be under the public system as we have not got private health cover yet but for the next child we are considering...is it top stuff?
:)

Sorry - I only just saw your message!

Yes - the basic cover is very well priced in comparison to other funds. It works out to between 1/2 - 3/4 of the price of a standard civillian health fund so definitely worth it. Even the top cover is very well priced and the rebates are pretty good.

Fabulous news! I love Defence Health, been in it my entire life and you wont find any better coverage or reasonable prices.
