my baby is soley bf and i found some things that look like sand in his nappy that are dark brown.. what could they be??? there where heaps.. :confused:

is your bubs in disposable nappies??? sometimes the absorbant crystals can leak out of the nappy and stick to bub's skin (or sit loose in the nappy) - they are usually clear in colour - but if the nappy was dirty - the crystals could be too..

I would wipe bubs VERY thoroughally - and if it happens more often I would change brands of sposies... as the crystals are chemical based and shouldn't be on bub's skin.. (one of the reasons I use cloth)

I agree with Veve. Sounds like the crystals.

I use Huggies and on the odd occasion the crystals come out (usually if the nappy is really wet).:banghead:

On the other hand if you dont use disposables it could be more serious and suggest you go see a GP about it.

I breastfed all 3 of my children and have never come across anything like you have mentioned. I would suggest going to see a doctor, just to be on the safe side. They may ask for a stool sample (poo sample), so it might be wise to go to the surgery office first and asking for a sterile jar or sterile bag to put the sample in. It may turn out to be nothing, which hopefully it does, but for your own peice of mind.
Let us know what it turns out to be, so we are all a little bit more wiser.
