Hello
I am 36 weeks pregnant tommorow. I went to the specialist obstertrician (as i'm having VBAC) 2 weeks ago and he said by his scans I was 36 +4. Although I assured him he was wrong. This week I went to see my normal Ob and he said the head was very low and thoroughly engaged and ready to come out. I also told him about shooting pain down my inner thigh, pubic pain and cervical pain. he didn't bother to do an internal but told me these were all signs that my body was ready to give birth and the baby was so low down the birth canal he was compressing many nerves causing pain you don't usually feel til early labour. Now for the last 2 days I have had alot of pain that seems to me like labour pain except it's not regular, last night contractions were about a minute apart yet today and the day before they were varying between 5, 10 and 30 mins and they either had no discernable peak or they had 2 or 3 peaks in the contractions. The contractions definately feel like they are pushing my baby downward. I have also had constant lower back pain over the last 2 days that has not gone away no matter what I do. In between I have also gotten lots of BH, painless tightening of the uterus. And everytime my baby moves it is extremely painful like he is trying to tear through my body. I don't remember any of this pain with my other two, and I don't remember contractions being like this. Do you think I may be in early labour? complications with past ceasar? or something else? Is it worth bothering the hospital with this?

Of course it is. The hospital will be able to tell you what to do. at least it will put your mind at rest (sort of) knowing for sure what's causing the pains.

Hello
Just thought I would update. I called the hospital and they told me to come in. So we drove there and I was monitored for 2 hours. The whole time I was there and ever since (which was about 2 weeks ago) I have had no pain at all....Hospital must have scared it off. I felt bad about wasting the midwives time, but better safe than sorry I guess. I think it may have just been bub turning as I'm sure he was posterier before....anyway he'll be coming soon enough.
