I'm looking at changing DS's method of drinking for his daily milk. He's 18 months old.
I think he's getting a bit old for a bottle, especially when there will be a new baby in a few weeks.
I've tried ALL sorts of sippy cups for other drinks but they all seem too casual for him and they're just that - sippy cups - he'll just sip some milk and put it aside. I've tried straws, disposables, valves.....
Is there are good cup out there where he will drink the whole lot in one go? Very baby specific I guess... Can anyone suggest anything?

Is it for the sleep time feed or is it for taking drinks during the day? I know a 12 month old that is drinking milk out of a standard adult cup! Im pretty sure his mum said he still has a bottle for his night time feed though. All the other feeds are out of a cup. She introduced this when he was about 10 months old and Id never seen him spill. At 18 months of age I would expect my girl to be doing the same. She can even do it now at 11 1/2 months but sometimes makes a bit of a mess. She finds this more exiting than drinking out of a sippy cup and seems to take nice big gulps too.
I personally wouldnt waste my money buying anything specific for that age as they would soon grow out of it, thats my opinion anyways.

Oh Gosh, I'm letting him have the tiniest bit of water out of a normal cup because he just grabs the cup and throws it back like a beer and it goes everywhere!!!
Yes, once I get that one mastered, he'll definitely have his milk like that but at the moment I just wouldn't be able to afford the milk wastage!!

Hi, how long have you tried them for? Sometimes it can just take them a while.
I used to take the non-spill valve out for 2 of my girls. But that would just be similar to the disposable type ones.
Nothing worked for one of my girls except for a cup which is very similar to a bottle. The tommy tippee nuby (sp?) It's about 250mls and the spout is silicone and very much like a teat but is the shape of a spout. They also have them smaller with 2 handles now.

Hmmm, that one sounds good. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I've been trying to get him to have milk out of a sippy cup for a couple of months now. 9 times out of 10 it gets thrown back at me.... he just seems to love the bottle - maybe I shouldn't change it if he's happy with it? He'll only drink it warm too which is a pain :hair:

I wonder if because he will only drink it warm has something to do with it.
My DD (4.5yrs now) still wont drink her milk cold. I still sometimes let her have her milk out of that cup. Especially if she has been sick and hasn't been eating much. She will always drink it when I put it in there.

I have a heinz one, it has grippy handles and a soft teat like sipper part. She found the transition from the bottle to that pretty easy.

yes - the tommy tippee nuby one - like Dannielle said - although they're about $12 I think. (My DD has been drinking her water out of that for ages now - so not too sure about milk.) You can get them form woolies I think - I got mine from Aldi -They're great because you can let your DS drink it himself and it won't spill!!! Doesn't work like a vavle thingy either - I could never get DD to drink from those types.
Now that DD is a pro at the nuby i've now moved her on to a normal drink bottle from woolies (brand Seema??) It has a top similar to powerade bottles but it is a twist, not a pop. She loves it !! Your DD may like it because they suck the liquid out (similar to bottle?!) They're only about $2.50 too!!!
Good luck !!!
