My Miracle Baby

Hello, we are about to start trying for our first baby and I have been told my pregnancy will be high risk due to my medical conditions. In particular, one of my conditions is so rare, even my obstetrician (who specialises in high risk pregnancies) doesn't know much about my condition or how my pregnancy will turn out. There is little medical literature which documents pregant women with my condition. I have been given the okay by 2 obstetricians to start trying and I know I have to go to a hosptial which caters for high risk women. I am quite nervous about my future pregnancy and for the safety of me and my baby. I would really love to hear from other women who have had or are having a high risk pregnancy and what their experiences have been. Many Thanks.:fingerscrossed:

hi i am preg (10 weeks) with child number 2
i am considered high risk as i have epilepsy and my medications, and or seizures could effect baby. as you did not explain your condition i can only give you an idea as to the difference between me and a low risk preg. those with low risk have the option of share care where you only see your gp and dont start going to the hospital till about 34 weeks. i dont have this option, i have to start at the hospital at 12 weeks (as i cant afford a private ob) i also have to get the 12 week scan as my meds take folate out of your body there is a higher risk for bubs to get spina bifida. alot of people get the 12 weeks scan any way just to see baby.
and lastly if i was to delver naturally (which im hoping to have another c/section) id need a ob there who was specialised in delivering epileptic ladies babies incase i had seizure during my labour. my last preg 6 years ago i was not diagnosed yet with epilepsy so its all new to me too. if its something you really want to do, go for it , just follow the obs advise.
