View Full Version : Baby's Position

Towards the end of a rather long meeting (by phone fortunately) on Thursday someone in there decided to start rearranging the furniture. I had strong kicks on the upper right side of my belly and when I moved my hand there I could feel very mobile bumps lol. And when I pushed on them they moved away. So I was rather distracted for the rest of the meeting with a silly grin on my face. Hence my 'fortunately' remark.

Had a checkup with my doula the following morning and she explained the baby's current position to me. Now it all makes sense ;)

Currently head down, bum up with back to the left hand side. So the simultaneous thumps I've been getting are hands on the lower left and feet on the upper right. I guess within the next month I'll be coaxing the little one's feet out of my ribs lol.

All is going as it should. I have a scan on the 9th of June as the OB wants to check baby's kidneys again. He reckons they've got a mild swelling. I reckon if it's that mild pull your head in and stop making me make your house repayments... or boat or mansion in the Seychelles... I wish I was game enough to have a home birth!
/Rant off.

Hope you're all doing swimmingly.
Cheers.

Its funny you mention the movement on the right side. I have to drive a rather long way to work and towards the end of the trip on a number of occasions I have felt the same thing. At first I thought it was something happening in my digestive system but when I had a feel I felt the mobile bumps too. Is this a normal position for bub at this stage? Or is it just extra comfortable for them and a coincidence?

Everything is going well here too! I actually feel really good at the moment, getting really excited. So what could it mean with bub having mildly swollen kidneys? I assume if it just mild then it should be ok?

I think it's normal for bubs to start having their heads down and bums up by this stage. That's where we want them at the end for sure!

I was given a rather lengthy info sheet on the whole swollen kidneys thing. I'll summarise it for all and sundry tonight when I get home. I feel a lot of things like that are basically OBs trying to justify their existence. He'll be trying to get antibiotics into poor baby at birth if it's still around but he'll have a fight on his hands...

HI ladies....I'm 27 wks now and my god the movements are crazy...my entire belly moves....the baby use to be in a breech position for the last 3 months and didn't seem to be going to ever turn...and as my first baby was breech I was strting to think it was me and my body.....but today at my ob visit he showed me that it has turned to head down position....so yeah !!!!....So today I have been feeling kicks, punches...pushes etc everywhere.......Its all new to me this head down position ......I'm also feeling alot more...tingly pains in my lower back and bum.....but its all good...it now means I don't have to have another c section.....

Can you all see your belly move...my belly is extremly tight as I ahve only put on 5 kg so far and plus its my second baby so I notice the movements more this time round..but what are other peoples bellies doing???
My bubba even kicks the bed at night and pushes out when big sister Lucy is near..its so cute!!

I can't stop touching my belling, especially at the top of my belly button as my little man moves a body part past my hand, not sure what it is exactly, but it's boney and hard... He has quite strong movements, does that necessarily mean he is big? Because I feel big when I am standing, but when I lay down, I don't feel as big as some are making out...I kind of wonder if he is the right size for where we are at right now... Sometimes it feels as if he is curling his toes or fingers around my skin and pulling/pinching, not a bad feeling, just a little wierd... occasionally it is uncomfortable, but I like it... :p

oh my I love reading all about everyones acrobats. I'm currently 33wks and my little one is more hyper than it's sister, I too feel it move alot, when big sis comes near, it has become a bit uncomfortable with long hard pushes. I've often joked and said my belly button isn't really where it is suppose to come out. lol
I think I actually bore people with the ooh look at this as I point to the rather large bum poking out of the tummy. But we all know how special it makes us feel and secure knowing that all is well. This little one seems to have the hiccups all the time, thats so funny to watch.

I hope your all getting some sleep and the little one isn't keeping you up.

I had a check up with my midwife last night and we really couldn't determine the exact position of bub. We had a lovely strong heart beat in my mid to lower abdomen region but couldn't feel a definate head or bum. At my last visit bub was in breech position. We came to the conclusion that because we detected the heart beat in that area, bub may have turned?

Would love to hear the info given to you all by your carers? Obviously we still have some time before the big day but it does still play on your mind, especially with the decreasing amount of room to turn!
