Hi, has anyone delivered (natural birth or Caesarean) at Monash Medical Centre in Clayton Melbourne? I would love to hear your experiences. I have been told in pre-pregnancy counselling that this is one of the only hospitals I can deliver in due to my future pregnancy's being high risk (I have a few medical conditions). I live near this hospital, so I am pretty sure I will go there. Have had a tour and all. We are going to start trying for a baby in the next couple of months. In particular, I am interested to hear about what it was like having a Caesarean there, because I may have to have one. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

I had ds there, born by c-section. It was also discovered that I had mild hypertension early on and I was placed immediately under the care of doctors rather than midwivs. I found every aspect of my care fantastic! Sometimes there were long waits for ante natal appt's, but I think that would be the saem at most public hospitals - there isn't much they can do if their staff are called away to an emergency!! I found them always to be very thorough, nothing was ever let go, it was always fully investigated. I had a ceassar because bub was breech. Teh staff on the day were absolutely brilliant! i was really quite nervous and scared. They all came and chatted to me before teh procedure so there were no unfamiliar faces and I felt a lot more at ease by teh time I was going into theatre. I found th eafter care was fairly goo. There was teh odd grumpy old midwife, but on the whole I felt they were friendly and helpful. I am dissapointed I am too far away to have #2 there!!

If you have any questions fell free to pm me!

I had both my bubs there

my first i had GD and my bubs was born vaginally, 4 weeks early and spent 10 days in NICU (there also) i also suffered a massive PPH.
Mine and My bubs care was FLAWLESS :smiliedance:

my second bubs came vaginally 5 days early with no complications at all

I can only say good things

I'm so glad to hear such good reviews. I'm booked in to have the blob early Feb.

Edited to say I'm high risk too due to my blood pressure. :) Megan

I've had 3 bubs there, all high risk pregnancys

#1 pre-eclampsia and delivered by emerg csect 9 weeks early, he spent 3 weeks in special care there before being transferred to a closer hospital. The staff was brilliant, very helpful and supportive through my hard times

#2 pregnancy induced hypertension and delivered by emerg csect 5 weeks early in very bad circumstances ... staff was AMAZING as I was incredibly 'sick' with my BP 225/165 when I delivered.. they did just a remarkable job stabilizing me and delivering DD safely.

#3 pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes... my pregnancy care was extensive, i got messed around a bit because they kept changing my doctors on meb ut this was because i had multiple problems. I was having twice weekly minimum fetal monitoring, weekly - twice weekly ultrasounds, checkups with OB 3 times a week.. etc etc.. they took BRILLIANT care of me once again, so much so that despite ALL the problems I managed to deliver at 38w6d by SCHEDULED C-SECT.

Absolutely brilliant there they are. #4 will be born there too as I will once again be high risk when the time comes.

Best of luck with your pregnancy :)

Well, I have a bubba due in April 2007 now. I am only about 5 weeks at present. Will be seeing my obstetrician this week. My appointment was made last week as soon as I found out I was pregnant.
