Hello.
Not sure if this is the best place to post, anyways..
At the moment I'm living in Redcliffe, but I'll be moving in September down to the Gold Coast. So I"m unsure about what to do in this situation about hospitals, midwife & doctors.
Should I go to the local midwife & doc then find one when we move? Or should i go down b4 we move to have a visits so don't have to rush around finding somewhere?? or should i just stay with local doctor but go to midwife on the gold coast??

Has anyone been in this situation before??

we moved from sydney to brisbane when i was 7 month preg so i know where you are coming from!

i suppose it depends on where you want to give birth.

if you want the gold coast birth birth centre, then i would suggest calling them ASAP and finding out how to get a place as they would fill up quickly.

if you will be going to the regular mat ward, or a priv hospital, the urgency to book in won't be so great and you could just see the midwives at redcliffe or do shared care with your GP.

in my case, I saw the midwives at the regular clinic in sydney. then when we got to brissie saw my doctor and gave birth at the mullumbimby birth centre.

if you want the birth centre, call them and they should be able to help you sort it out!

Poor you. so confusing aye. Too bad you have to move cause Im due in Nov as well and Im going to Redcliffe Hos....
Suppose you would speak to the Dr you are seeing at Redcliffe and explain the move, and hopefully they tell ya where to go from there.

Thanks for the info ladies.
Yeah, I'm going to be seeing my GP next week, so will explain to him whats happening re moving & see what he can suggest.
I'm not sure if I wana give birth in a birthing centre or in the maternity ward. S'pose I just need to talk to some people that have been had their birth in the gold coast centre.
I'm thinking of doing share care with my GP & then when I move, it'll then depend on if goin to birth at the birthing centre or at the mat ward. Hmmmm.... something to chat to GP all about & DH.
Thanks again!
