Hi LivingINhope nice to see someone suggest newcastle thread! I am currently going to Hunter IVF and will be doing a natural FET this month. First ISCI was unsuccessful for us so fingers crossed this one works . I noticed that you do reiki - an old friend of mine used to do that and loved it. I am considering doing acupunture this time round although I've never done it before ?? How are you finding SIVF?

Hi everyone,
I am glad to see a thread for us local Newcastle girls. I have been going through Hunter IVF, started 12 months ago and am doing it on my own. The decision wasn't a light one. I have PCOS and just turned 38 and have been single forever. I was trying to come to grips with the possiblity of never becoming a mum and found out about the single womans program, so I decided to take my chances. I have to do IVF anyway, so why wait for Mr Right, that may never happen? I never dreamed I'd be a single mum, but I am ready for it. Life doesn't go the way we plan. (sorry I don't know all the terminology on here yet) Have had 2 stimulated cycles of IVF, 1st one resulted in 9 eggs then ended up with 3 'day 3' embryos. 1 was tfr back & 2 frozen. That cycle failed, went for frozen tfr but were failed thaws. Had another stimulated cycle last Nov, got 11 eggs & ended up with 2 '5 day' embryos, put 1 back and froze other. Got BFP but lost it 4 days later (was a biochemical pregnancy). Had remaining emby tfr in Feb. Was not feeling confident at all but got BFP. I miscarried 2 weeks ago at 9 1/2 weeks and had D&C. Still recovering from it. It's been rough, I lose a little faith each time it fails but I am not ready to give up just yet, I've progressed a little further each time so maybe next time it will go all the way.
It's good to be able to share our stories and know that we are not alone. I am so happy for everyone that achieves their dream and finally get their little miracle in their arms. It gives me hope.

Hello Newcastle!!!
Livinginhope - I should've warned you that Jolene is hard to get into - did you put your name down for cancellations??
Kismet - Good on you. You have had a rough trot, but on the upside - you know you CAN fall pregnant - that is what the nurses tell me - I don't know if it makes me feel good or not yet! And as for doing it alone? Well I see plenty of single parents out there and they are not by choice! So you have the choice and good on you - there is no turning back the clock and when the time is right it is right - do you have family or friends supporting you through this long.... journey? Which clinic are you with?
Karma Mum - Good luck for tomorrow you so deserve this one!!!
Hope4bub - I've heard good things about Hunter IVF and yes - fingers crossed for this one!
I'm just sitting here thinking how small this town is and wondering if we already know each other? He he - wouldn't surprise me at all!!!

:wave:Hi Girls
Karma mum good luck for your transfer tomorrow and I hope the acupuncture gives
you a boost for the embie sticking!!:goodvibes:
LivingINhope wishing you best of luck for your ICSI cycle :babydust2: I hope the reiki works well for you:-) Unfortunately SIVF in Newcastle worked out to be bit difficult for us to manage so we went to HIVF. Am so glad we are with them as our FS is wonderful as are the staff, and we have been going there for a couple of years now. I should mention that we have been TTC for five years now - am sooo keen to have a successful cycle. Am trying to work out how to twist his arm to perhaps have two embryos transferred. Just another thing to stress about!!
Kismit am sorry to hear about your m/c and I really admire your strength and determination. I think that it's great that you have taken the step to try for a baby on your own and know you will be a fabulous mum :flowerz:.
Jesslee83 hope you are feeling better after everything that's happened recently. I will definitely be sending good vibes for your journey:yes:.
I am waiting for AF to arrive she was due yesterday?? I will be doing a natural FET cycle this time round. Have four 5 day blastos on chill.

jesselee is right this is a small town really and we have probably bumped into one another, or some of your may even know eachother. I am from Sydney and only moved up 2 years ago and probably know none of you other than through bubhub of course :)
Karma Mum I am sending you loads of:babydust2:baby dust and good vibes today, good luck with the transfer.
Jesselee83 I have had to resort to reiki because i can;'t get in with joleen but I am on the cancellatin list so :fingerscrossed: for that.
Kismet - So sorry to hear about your setbacks but sounds like you are working up to comlete success. My mum was a single mum which was realy tough in the 70's and much less acceptable. Its not about having 2 parents but about being surrounded with love and i am sure you have plenty of that and your family and firneds will I am sure lavish love on your baby as well.
Good for you don't give up I just knwo it'll work out for you:)
Hope4bub - never thought I would say this to another woman but bring on AF for you so you can thaw out some frosties for your transfer.
I have just put my osn down for a sleep and am thinking i might just go and have one myself, have a good day all :flowerz:

Hi Jesslee83 - yes I have a good support of family and friends. My family are great, but they are going through this too, it upsets them to see me having a hard time. I go to Hunter IVF and there's a support group for single woman that's quite good.
Hope4bub - good luck in your next cycle.
Thanks for all your encouragement. I am hoping to start again once I have the go ahead from my OB.

Oh, on the acupuncture note. I tried it once before and after a fresh transfer. It was the first BFP result I had. I'm going to try it again next time because I do believe it helped get me pregnant. My acupuncturist is a lovely woman, and I would be happy to pass on her contact details if you want them. She has helped woman with fertility issues for over 2 years (has practised for over 6). She did her studies with a woman called Jane Lyttleton is Sydney who has worked extensively with IVF clinics down there.

Hi All!
Hope you don't mind me crashing in. I'm a bit of an impostor because I have just had my final FET ever! Am not sorry the the IVF journey is over for me - but it has finished with a bang ... so to speak!
I was with HIVF for more that 2 years. They tell me that I've done around 20 cycles, it felt like a lot more! I don't think we would have been able to stick with it if it wasn't for the doctors and staff there. I still call in and catch up with them all!
We had all but given up on our dream of falling pregnant. I had tried everything!! We were going to try one more cycle with donor sperm but we had to use our remaining 5 embies first. I put myself (with the clinic's support) on low dose aspirin and whamo!! BFP!! Our son was born in May '07. In February this year I put myself on aspirin again and had our final 2 embies transferred and we are elated to be pregnant again!
I wish you all luck on your journeys and hope that, like me, your dreams will come true too. I hope it's ok if I still pop in to check on you all!
Baby dust to all! :babydust2:

Hi Lucky2b Mum
You are very welcome here . I am so happy for you and the great results with your BFP!! What a fantastic way to end your journey! Seeing your obvious determination is a real inspiration to me and I'm sure alot of the other girls here would agree. I have been planning to do a low dose of asprin this next FET as I didn't do it during my very first fresh ICSI transfer - although I did eat alot of fresh pineapple...can I ask what dosage you were on and is there any advice you would give in relation to doing anything differently after the embryo transfer?? ie. resting for period of time, eating plenty of fresh fruit and veg? I know these are probably questions that have been asked several times but I figure it all helps .
Kismet thanks for the well wishes - good luck to you too.
Well still waiting for AF - she is determined to be fashionably late.

HI
I'm a bit of a ring in too. DH and I did 3 IVFs and 5 FETS with SIVF (Lingard) before finally getting our BFP which gave us DS and DD1. At the start of our last IVF we did a beginners Reiki course and our teacher concentrated on my pelvis (TMI sorry:))
We got 10 eggs and did ICSI from which we got 9 embryos. Transferred 3 (yes I know but this was in 2001 and I was39) 2 stuck for our 1st BFP:smiliedance:
When HIVF was opened we transferred our 6 frosties to them. Fast forward to 2005 and we did a natural FET in late January. We had to thaw 3 to get 2 for transfer ( really didn't think it would happen again) and now we have DD2 and 3 who are 2.5.:cloud9:
We still have 3 at HIVF, just paid the storage fee:yes: and are yet to decide what to do with them. We went to the HIVF family picnic 2 years ago and it was great to see all the families who have been helped by these wonderful people
Well I have rambled enough. Hope I can join in and help out in some way.

DonnaR sounds like you did really well with the reiki, thank you so much for your post. I have been a little down because I can't get into see an acupunturist, but I am a reikiII so you have confirmed my thoughts about doing reiki instead thankyou :yelclap:
Sound like you are truely blessed and a little busy with 2 sets of twins, were SIVF (lingard)newcastle aso good?

Hi Ladies,
Sorry for the delay in replying. I take Cartia brand aspirin 100mg. I like Cartia because the packet has the days on it and I can check if I've taken my dose for the day (Doh!!)
I didn't do anything special to get my BFP's. In fact both time I had no expectations. I had pretty much given up hope the first time ... the second time I just thought we'd had our "lotto win" and couldn't be that lucky again. So, sorry, no advice from me in that regard.
Good luck to all for you upcoming cycles :babydust2:

Hello LivingINHope - my acupuncturist is Adriana Bellicanta, you can get her on 0403140720. She is in between moving locations but I believe she is working from home at the moment.
Lucky2bmum - wow, 20 cycles! That is amazing, but well worth the wait of coarse. Congratulations.
Can you tell me what the aspirin is used for?

How are you all?

Hi Jesslee83
I agree about the rain although it's great for the garden I think it is never going to end!
Well I have been for my first acupuncture ever and I feel really good so far. I went to the Lambton wellness centre and saw dianah she is really lovely. Needles didn't hurt at all and I was doing very well until I decided to have a look at the one in my arm - just got a bit woozy :o!!! But apart from that I felt great. I am now going to have a month off and not do FET until next cycle. Have also had my first taste of chinese herbs tonight - lets just say I had to have a chaser of lemonade to kill the taste. Hope everyone is doing well would be good to hear how everyone's week is going.
How's your week going Jesslee??
