Hi my little bubba has had a runny nose and a cough for the past couple of days, and has been really irratable. I've had the cold for the past week but have been so careful trying not to give it to him. He's been fully breastfed until a wk ago when i introduced one bottle of formula before going to bed. I though b'f babies weren't supposed to sick like this. Is it because of the bottle i've been giving him. He's also dribbling lots and has really rosy cheeks.

I feel terrible is there anything i can do for my little man.

most babies will get a cold at some point or antoher and it isnt because of anything you have done. so relax. before he feeds you will need to clear hi snose - a drop or 2 of breastmilk up his \nose is helpful and will do the trick - or buy some Fess - its saline and perfectly safe for babies and also clears the nose.

there is nothing but the fess puller.

babies do get sick. even fully breastfed ones. mine has been sick a few times.

now.. all u can do is do what u are doing. keep him warm and away form anyone that might have a worse cold. or something that can make his more sick.

the rosey cheeks could be teethin or hot.. but it is hard to say as we can't see him to say. dribbling is also a sign of teething. so if he is all u can do is keep the panadol up to him.. when needed and to trying and help with the pain by giving him a cold CLEAN face washer to chew on. u might have to hold it for him. if he loves to chew on your fingers then hold the face washer around ur finger when he is chewing on your finger.

i am sure he will be over the cold soon..

i hope i have helped. **b**:hugs:

I have just recently become a natropath convert and my son has had such great results with my natropath she is awesome:thumbsup:

Maybe try a natropath, they work with newborns and can give you natrual herbal drops to help relieve your sons cold without using medication.

I hope your bub is better soon:)

Thank you everyone. I think your right about him having a cold. I went to my pharmacist today,(couldn't get into my GP and don't like the other one) and he was great. Oli could be teething- but because i have a cold it's likely that Oli has developed one as well. They gave me an dedcongestant with antihistamine to help with the coughing and nasal problems- he was having trouble breathing when feeding! Also got him some baby balsalm ( baby vicks). Just given him both and has gone down for a sleep. He needs one!!! Hope he gets better soon.
