After starting the pill and synerol my thyroid function is outa whack and I have to up my oroxine dose, has anyone else had this experience?

It seems I am the first patient at the clinic I go to that has had no thyroid and been on oroxine for full thyroid function. I am feeling a little stressed, fortunatley we will up my meds and I get to keep going with IVF, although I have out on 2 kilos in 3 weeks which I am unhappy about.

Given that I eat healthy food and exercise:gloomy: its not fair. Although I have been super tired lately and maybe not exercising as much as normal.

If anyone else had these problems or knows a bit about them I'd love to hear from you

Hi Livinginhope. I am a little different in that I have an underactive thyroid for which I also take medication. I'm her eto offer you hope - I fell pregnant in my first cycle of IVF (but have been fortunate enough during pregnancy not to have had to adjust it or to have had weight gain.)

I just thought I would respond to say "chin up", I understand the frustration of weight gain that is out of your control and perhaps try to focus on the fact that you are (hopefully) going to have a beautiful baby at the end of all this that is going to make it all worthwhile. You can get your weight back under control once you have had bubs.

Good luck with the IVF.

Thanks for your support mumkc its appreciated, you are right I should forget about weight gain and focus on my hopes of concieving no2.

I concieved my first son while having thyroid cancer (although I didn't know I was sick) I guess since being sick I am more aware of the risks involved for the baby.

:fingerscrossed: for both of us to have :bfp: shortly :)

That's probably a more legit reason than baby brain!

Wow! You've been through a lot! I was shocked enough to be diagnosed with Hashimotos (hypo-thyroidism) in my 30's and you had cancer in your 20's! Life is a funny thing, isn't it?

Good luck with the FET. I'll keep an eye on your threads and hope to see a :bfp: in mid May. Here's my tip - keep yourself occupied during the 2WW!

Hi Girls - I am also taking Oroxine. My GP put me on it nearly a year ago, just 50mg a day, a baby dose I hear. My FS knows and doesn't seem too concerned about it. I was taking it during all 3 of our IVF cycles last year. I was wondering how often your thyroid levels get checked?? I still have my thyroid gland and some months I am much loopier than others. I read alot about having a dodgy thyroid can really mess up your chances of getting pregnant.

So sorry for all the rambling....... You are the first girls I have heard of with Thyroid issues.

LivingINhope - sorry I can't answer your questions, I am pretty much in the dark about it all myself.

mumkc - congrats on your BFP!!! Hope to be joining the club soon.

shadowsmum,

I take between 150mcg and 200mcg daily I have no thyroid, I had it removed when they discovered I had cancer and my son was a couple of months old. The oroxine is essential to carry a healthy baby to term if your levels are out.

My problem is mine go out of wack all the time and it can take some time to get level again, but my endo has put me on higher dosage here and there to pick me up and get my levels back to normal.

It sucks having thyoid issue's huh! when I went out of wack this time I have been pretty loopy and anxious, you would be surprised how much it screws with your body. the good news is I carried a healthy baby with serious thyroid issue's that were monitored and corrected after my son was born.

Be aware that your thyroid levels should be checked continually during trying to concieve and conception, being out of wack can cause serious problems for the unborn fetus.

Sorry for my rambelings I love being able to talk to people with thyroid issue's, best of luck on resuming IVF :)

Hopefully you lovely ladies will get a :bfp: soon.

Though I am not going through IVF I do have graves (overactive). I have been TTC for about a year and still struggling to get my levels right. My endo tends to think my infertility is because of the graves.

Someone has previously said that it is very important to get your thyroid levels checked while TTC and while you are pregnant if you have a ongoing thyroid problem.

:fingerscrossed: for everyone

Allegra sorry to hear about the graves its not easy I know a few girls with it, thats the one where you can't put on weight isn't it? or is that hashimoto's?

It takes a long time to level your thyroid, are they givng you radioactive iodine abliation to treat your thyroid or jusr oroxine?

Best of luck to you, I concieved my first with thyroid cancer so I am sure when your levels are right it will happen for you.

Shadowsmum - I too had readv that my hashimotos could affect conception but both my GP and my FS disagreed with this. Are you hyper or hypo?

In answer to your question from memory I had my levels checked at about 16 weeks and then again at 28 weeks. Can't answer for after 29 weeks as I am not there yet!

Hope to welcome you gals to the :bfp: club soon.
