I am a first timer and love reading all these threads. I posted this on another thread but thought i would ask again.
So many people have different reasons for starting IVF and many different forms of treatment. I am finding that a bit hard to keep up with, all the names of the drugs etc.
So i might be asking some dumb questions but if anyone could help that would be great. I have asked my clinic but they never give exact times so i was looking for help from all you experienced ladies.
I am currently on the Pill after AF has started. On the 22nd April i start Lucrin injections and then stop the pill two days later. How long do you usually need to have Lucrin before you start FSH injections. Do you need to get AF again before you start FSH. Also can that take a while to get AF?
Also i know that the length of your FSH injections can vary depending on your response to the drugs but how long is an average time?
Sorry for all the questions
Thanks

Hi Sprinkles and welcome,
I'm not on the Lucrin so can't help you there. There are SO many different treatments, I always thought there was just one until I started on IVF. This is our first cycle and I start my injections on Sunday  and apparently it is approx 12 days of injections before the EPU.

Not sure if you already have them, but this is a common list of abbreviations (kindly supplied to me by HelenWantsaBub)

take care & good luck. Don't worry about asking questions, that's what everyone is here for. They have been a wonderful support to me.

sprinkles I am a fellow first timer, but since reading these forums I realise there is a plethora of drugs and I don't undertsnad it one bit.

I am with SIVFN and this is my schedule for ICSI, hope it helps:

- Start Pill 22/3/08
- Synerol Spray 8/4/08
- Last Pill 11/4/08
- Menstural Cycle 14/4/08 (approx)
- Start FSH 17/4/08 (approx)
- First ultrasound 25/4/08 (approx)
- Estimated week of egg collection 28/4/08 (approx) which mean trigger will be 36 hours before.

The areas of approximation really depend on menstural cycle (sorry I have no idea what the abbreviation is...). I am not sure what Lucrin is or even I will have it but I have not been told I will.

Hope this helps :)

LivingInhope : am just curious what the fees are at sivf ?
The ladies on these forums are wonderful i have only just joined myself but have been surfing them for years, the ladies will be more than willing to help with any questions you may have.
lucrin is an injection that supresses your hormones just the same as synarel does only you don't inject synarel you sniff it up your nose like a nasal spray
and the abbreviation for your period is AF (aunt flo)
I hope i have helped you in some small way to make your journey a little less confusing

Shadsmum thanks for the low down on bubhub speak, I was wondering what AF stood for I just couldn't work it out :)

SIVF charge $7770 as a full fee for ICSI, however if you have reached the saftey net and have private healthcare you will only be out of pocket $1058. I also have to pay a $300 excess to have my eggs harvested at the private hospital attached to SIVFN.

LivingInhope....Thanks for the info, I find there's such a difference in fees with each centre and also with how many embies they allow at transfer. westmead allows up to 2 embies but we only get sedated at epu so at times it can get a bit painfull. Our fees are $1400 and we get about $1080 back of medicare once you have reached the safety net, they don't use your private insurance.
I wish you all the best with your cycle :shakehands:
once again thankyou!!!
