Hi,
My bub is 8.5 months old at the moment and we're wanting to start TTC#2. I am also overweight - around 35kg is what I would ideally like to lose (in a perfect world ). I'm also on medication for depression so that is another thing that I need to work out what I'm going to do before starting TTC.
I was overweight when I fell pregnant with DS, I actually weighed more than I do now (by 10kg). For some women the weight will be a problem in conceiving, for others it won't. Personally, what I am going to do is continue to try and lose weight in a sensible and healthy way, a lifestyle change that I can continue through pregnancy. If I have trouble conceiving then I will step up the weight loss battle for a while until I conceive. I have been told in the past by my GP and other sources also, that for some women losing weight can help with conceiving - and this isn't just for heavily overweight women. Some women, of normal weight have been told to try and lose 2kg or so 'wake their bodies up' and then they have managed to get pregnant.
I hope I've made at least a little bit of sense here. If you would like to PM me about this please feel free to - I'm in the same situation as you :hugs:

Hi
I am about 20kgs overweight and didn't have any trouble conceiving our second. I was about 10kgs overweight when I fell pregnant with my first and was very slack and didn't lose all the weight I gained when I was pregnant with him. This time though after I've had this baby I hope to lose my excess before going back for no. 3 as I have found I am tired all the time and generally not feeling so good and I think my weight has alot to do with this. I'm also always feeling hot!
Good luck TTC!
i would suggest for your own general health to loose some before TTC, you may find you have more time to work in excercise and preparing healthy meals now with only one than with another to look after also!
Not sure of the increased risks in pregnancy if you are overweight but i would say there are surely some to consider.

I was about 30kgs overweight when TTC #1. I fell pregnant pretty easily but wouldnt reccomend it.
Pregnancy puts such a huge strain on your body, esp the heart. I am trying to loose weight now so I can TTC #2 as soon as possible. I have a long way to go but I wont out my body through the stress of being overweight and pregnant again.
If you do decide to try an loose a few kilos, come and join us in the weight loss support group thread. You are more than welcome. :)
