re Trying again

Hi all,

just a quick question to all out there who have been as unfortunate as myself to miscarry, how long was it after you miscarriage or d & C did you get your first period? I am anxious to start trying again and want to know how long i will have to wait.

My period came back about 5 weeks after D & C. Opinion varies but generally wait about 2 cycles before trying again.
I think you should wait at least one cycle to establish all is ok, and let your body recover from the d&c.

We have decided to try again too, but my m/c was about 5 months ago. It is only now that I feel ready (mentally). Actually I was worried for a second that I would be too scared to try again (and I want another2 babies!).

thanx for the reply, I was planning to wait until I get my first period, that is what the doctor at the hospital advised us to do. At the moment I feel like I really want to start trying again, I just want that feeling of being pregnant again I won't even mind the morning sickness. But I guess I will see how I feel once I've had my first period. Good luck to you with conceiving and I hope all goes well. We fell pregnant in the first month of trying last time, I hope that happens again, but if it doesn't then we will just have to keep trying. Talk to you soon.

Hi Pippa,

Sorry to hear about yout loss. I miscarried at 12 weeks and had a D&C. My period came back the next month. A professional has said that you should wait for one normal period before trying again.

Hi Pippa,
hope you are doing okay. My period didn't come back until a bit over 8 weeks after my miscarriage which honestly drove me nuts. I was really keen to be pregnant again - would have been happy if I had got pregnant the day the miscarriage ended but unfortunately it wasn't to be.It took me 5 months to get pregnant again which felt like forever and I became a bit of an emotional wreck.
If you got pregnant in the first month of trying hopefully you will get pregnant again easily if you want to (it took us 5 months the first time as well as after the miscarriage). No matter what, you have been pregnant so you definitely can get pregnant again and the next time is most likely to be fine. I am now 18 weeks with the second pregnancy and even though I am scared I think this one is going to be okay. Best of luck and I hope it doesn't take long when you start trying again.

Ive Had Several Miscarriages And My Dr Always Told Me That After A D&c You Are Clean And Ready To Go Again.i Always Waited A Couple Of Periods Before I Tried.i Fall Pregnant Just Thinking About It,i Just Cant Keep It There.i Now Have 4 Sensational Grubs.last Of The Lot Was My Twin Girls.altho Ive Been Preg With Twins 3 Times Prior ,these Twins Were The Only Ones Identical All The Others Were Fraternal.i Was Told That The More Pregs U Have The Higher The Chance Of Twins.so Good Luck Trying When U Feel Ready And Have Fun While You Are.stressing About Falling Preg Could Stop U Actually Falling.

Hi Pippa, It's good to see your are ready to try again. My first pregnancy was a miscarriage and it took me 8 mths before i fell with my son but after my second miscarriage which was after my 4th child i was delighted to find out i was 5 wk 2 preg before my 6 wks check up after my d & c. Why more so cause i had lost alot of blood losing that baby i really didn't think my body would be working. I wish you all the luck for your future and i hope you fall soon bye for now Mel
