Hi everyone. Well i have 2 sick little kiddies at home today, it all started sunday night but gor worse yesterday. My eldest DD has croup and diahroea(spelling), so she is home from kindy today she was so upset cos she really wanted to go. My youngest DS he is worse he started getting grizzly and a bit of a temp yesterday morning, but nurofen was making him feel better. Then after his afternoon sleep he woke up screaming with a temp of 39.9 so i put him in a tepid bath then took him to my GP. When i got to my GP i noticed he had some petichiae (purple spots that don't fade when you push them) on his arm. My GP examined him and sent me straight off to PMH(hosp). I got to hosp and went straight in he started getting more spots and was really unwell. They gave him some paracetamol and put some numbing cream on his hands. Then about an hour later they did blood test on him, that was the worst thing ever he screamed so much and kept saying "the doctor is hurting me" over and over. He then started to pick up but was still getting more spots, they said to keep an eye on him and they kept coming in every 10 mins they said if the bloods came back looking even slightly suspicious or he keeps getting more spots they would have to do a lumbar puncture, i was so scared. Thankfully he didn't need it his results finally came back and they were okay they suggested he had a virus but probably not a bacterial infection, thank goodness. Anyway they gave him an injection of antibiotics in his poor little bottom, just incase and i have to go back againthis afternoon so they can check him again and get the results of the blood cultures. So my poor little boy is still quite sick and now has a sore bottom on top of it all :( My poor sick little kids.
