Hi
Well dd is due for her 6 mth immunisation next week, but in the mail I got a letter saying that she'll have to have a repeat of her last immunisation.
The letter said:
As a result of irregular temperature levels recorded in our vaccination refrigerator, it has been recommened by the dept of health that we repeat the immunisation given on the 14/2/06 (4mth immunisation) about 1 to 2 mths after this date.
Im so annoyed at this. She is now due for her 6mth one and she has to have another lot of her 4mth one.
How could they do this, I hate her having to have needles. Has this happened to anyone else? Should I ring up and be angry? Im so ANGRY :banghead: with the dr's surgry, immunisations are dealing with little babys they should have everything right!!!

I would complain.
Vaxing is dodgy enough without them storing the stuff properly.
I'm not sure who to complain too....maybe the health board
hmmm dont be angry on the phone - I doubt that will get you anywhere... HOWEVER I would express definate frustration - I mean - do you now have to wait longer to give the 6 month needles?? surely there is a 2 month wait between them for a reason???
- can they test your bubs blood to see if the needles worked??? just a thought - might save another set of three needles
oooh :hugs: to you ... extra needles just doesn't seem fair...
xx

Oh that is just horrible that they botched it to begin with! But think positive and be glad that they did inform you that the vaccinations may not be effective. And that you CAN go back and get them re done!;)
Hi ewells1983, I can understand why you are so mad - immunisations are stressful enough to begin with!! I have not heard of this happening before, but as Oscar's mum said, at least you found out now.
Unfortunately, I don't think that complaining will get you anywhere, and they probably had to report this to the health department or similar.
Personally, I would not go back to that surgery, I would find it hard to trust them.
I hope the next lot of imms go well for both of you! :)
oh I would be very, VERY cross! I agree with Jazz - immunisations are dodgy already, let alone mucking them up and having to re-do them.
At the end of the day, at least you know about it. I guess mistakes get made and complaining isn't going to fix it. I like to complain if I think something can be done to rectify the problem. But just venting probably doesn't help the situation unfortunately. Then again.. that's just me.

Well I rang them, didnt get angry. They said it was because they have a new machine that keeps the temp. And it wasnt set up properly. They sound like idiots, Im thinking that I might change my Dr's. I have to go have her 6mth ones and they said they'd work it oout then if she needs more or not.
Ewells, if I were you I'd be much more upset about the vaccines not being stored properly than about her possibly having the needles twice. Can you find out what the possible issues are with the storage temperature not being right? I'd want to know, that's for sure!

Yes this is ridiculous & i would be angry myself possibly changing doctors & making a complaint.
But can we also remember at the end of the day we are all human which means human errors occur because after all even though we do use machines to help us out these have to be set up by humans.
It shows how competant they were in working out what happened contacting all those vaxed & requesting it be re-done. I think it would be far worse if they hid it or the likes for you to find out at a later date.
wow ive never heard this happen before, how terrible!
i hate having to do it, let alone repeating it  i find it traumatic to be the one to 'hold them down' :crying:
i would express your frustration as well.
