DS is 6, (7 in 3 weeks lol)
In the past couple of months he has become a complete scatterbrain.
Cannot concentrate, easily distracted - especially at school, often distracts others, cannot remember simple instructions without getting waylaid, doesn't remember where he left things, doesn't put anything away even when told, takes forever to eat
He's always been a bright and intelligent child, talked early and could read and do maths very well last year in Prep.
His writing has gone backwards and he's now stumbling when reading.
He has always worn reading glasses and I've just had his eyes checked last week
He is slightly hearing impaired, and I had his hearing checked again last week, and it's gone down slightly.
I'm at the end of my teather.
has anyone elses child gone through this?
my dd1 is 8 and she is a scatterbrain but it comes down to look at me while i talk to you NO look at my eyes when i talk that way i know you are looking/listening to me..............i think they have so much going on in their heads and sometimes at school there teachers breeze too fast through the work for some kids............
maybe he needs to slow down and think about things and spend more time thinking then rushing this helps my dd1 as she rushes everywhere
I have a 7 year old DS that is of with the fairies all the time:laughing:. In fact over the last couple of months the most used saying in our house is "Concentrate Koby!!!". He is very bright and very well behaved, just seems to forget what to do between point A and point B. We still have to hold his hand if we are near a large group of people as he would just wonder off and lose us:)!!
Ok- the fact that his behaviour and physical capabilities is regressing is a bit of a concern. The stumbling and clumsiness could easily be attributed to his hearing problems but i would be taking him to the Dr for a total check up just n case.
Explain your fears to your Dr and go from there.
My DS's did regress a little when they started school- but theirs was behaviour and it didn't last too long.
I hope he's ok!:flowerz:

Apart from the hearning loss and glasses, you have described my eldest DS to a tee! He became very scatterbrained at about 6 and it has continued (he turned 8 a couple of weeks ago.)
I have heard that with boys they have a testosterone spike around this time which makes them vague.

Thankyou - this is what the GP's suggesting - but to watch it
And we've changed his multivitamins which is helping
Oh well - there goes my baby and here comes the man...

Nahhh - we've been on Fish Oil for a few years with little or no noticible difference - Swisse Multivitamins Calming is what works for him
However - Fish Oil for DD is as essential as air and water

My nearly 8 year old DS is exactly the same. I am starting him on a whole new diet. He needs to cut out any additives in his diet...
I was reading the book fed up. You can also look on hte website and that should help.
My friends little boy has been on this for almost 5 months and I swear he is a total different boy...
Good luck hun:hugs:
:iagree: Food changes can make a difference. Fed Up is worth reading and it can really change their behaviour.
Regards, Eileen.
